  • The 5692T52 is listed as 60% reduction. I am curious how they came up with that number.
I'd go for something more specifically for sound attenuation if I was doing it again.
It is a noticeable reduction at idle. Just not impressive (at least for me)
That being said, i'm happy with the reasonable improvement and clean looks.

I can plot the measurments with other settings if it helps...

I read your graphs and they made sense to me. By the way thank you for posting, this was very useful information. After I inhaled a gallon of acetone and spent 8 hours working old adhesive off of the engine box, I lost all motivation to see the project thru. I put the engine box back on and noticed no difference in sound with the old insulation removed, so I just threw in the towel on the project.

I'd rather spend the $$$ on 4 handles of Titos.

      • Hey Guys:

I'm going to use Fat Mat to insulate my 91 ProStar Dog House. Anyone by chance know the square footage...I'm not at home to measure? What Mil size did you recommend?

        Thanks, Grizz

        • I have a question. On my ‘85, the inside of the doghouse is hard plastic; I assume the doghouse is insulated, but that the insulation is outside of the interior shell.

On the ‘95 Brendella I looked at (prior to buying the MC), the interior of the doghouse was covered with aluminized insulation material of some type (I assume what the OP here is searching for).

Did MC change their engine insulation to a mat lining the inside of the doghouse, or does my ‘85 simply not have any?

          • The insulation on my 91 Pro Star is on the inside. It was no more than .5 inch thick foam. Over the years it has deteriorated to a point where I needed to completely rip it out. I think most of the earlier MCs that have a dog house are insulated on the inside.
