  • 06 X30 Sticker Removal?

Hey all. This Monday I’m scheduled to take the X30 in for a annual impeller change and am debating if I should have them take the sticker off as well. I think it just ages the boat and isn’t really “the thing” anymore. I want to go for a classic look with the chrome “mastercraft” logo in the corner. Has anyone done this before? Thoughts?

I would be hesitant due to potential ghosting in the flake gel coat that is hard to restore.

Good thing I don’t have flake then! Lol

Although one of my buddy’s does and he learned that lesson the hard way...

Doesn’t matter if it’s flake or not. The difference in color on the gelcoat will always be noticeable.

Yes the trible decals are dated but uou have an awesome boat just the way it sits.

Depending on how the boat has been upkept and waxed, you may not have anything to worry about. I took my dated (2004) stickers off in 2015, did a little buffing and there was not ghosting. I would definitely do it. Yes, mine is red metal flake.

                That’s a good looking X30 right there!

I think I’ll do it... I’ll keep updating.

I disagree on the hassle of getting this done right. I have taken the tribal graphics off of two older boats and with enough time, the right buffer, and some 3M Super Duty compound, 3M Finesse IT, wax and polish, you can make this look stellar with the updated graphics. Go for it.

I'd be inclined to remove the way outdated graphics. (wow, we are getting' have gotten old)

Lost in this thread is why you are taking the boat to a dealer to get an annual impeller change...??? It's something most of us do ourselves in minutes. Granted some of the V-drives have some obstruction....Keep us posted on the graphics.

That I could do. But at the end of the day, I’d rather have someone who has done it many times and can get it right than me who only knows how to wax lol.

On the flip side, some new knowledge wouldn’t hurt...

The only reason I take it in is because to do it right, you have to remove the muffler on my particular boat. Pretty annoying. I’ve done it a few times, but I’ve decided to let the dealer tackle the beast.

And yes, you’re welcome to call me a sissy.

Any of these help you decide? Believe I like #3 best. Good luck.

Required some buffing and polishing, but the ghosting is nearly undetectable.
