  • Sodar's ProStar 197 Stereo Install

Today, my last remaining items arrived(Thanks to MYMC) to start my annual boat project. Last year was StarGazer, Pop-Up Cleats and Underwater LED's.... this year is a stereo upgrade.

Currently I have 2 pairs of JL Audio M770's powered off the head unit.

When this is all said and done I will have.
    • An auxiliary battery with a Blue Seas Isolator and 1.2 Farad capacitor.
    • A pair of JL Audio M650 speakers in MC tower cans powered by a JL Audio 2-channel M2250 for the tower.
    • A JL Audio 10IB5 Subwoofer powered by a M1700 Monoblock Amplifier.
    • An added pair of M770 speakers for a total of 3 Pairs powered by a JL Audio M6600 6-channel amp.
    • A JL Audio CL-RLC Volume control to control the sound of the tower speakers.

I am going to need to relocate a few things prior to the install, but I will be updating this as I go. I expect everything to take about 4-6 weeks with me working on it on weekends only.

Here is my grouping of parts and pieces!

Going in the center position... might not look the best, but it will save the headaches... pun intended!

              Hey Cam,

Did you pull your breaker panel and Star Gazer box out and send it to Mike for fabrication?

              BTW, nice work Mike.

Naw, the panel with the StarGazer Master Module is the stock kick panel. The hole for the sub was already in the plastic substrate from the factory. It was just a matter of taking trimming the carpet with the dremel and screwing the sub into the substrate.

What Mike made for me are these 2 speaker boxes for the 7.7" speakers. The slide into the gunwales and give you a spot to mount the new pair of speakers I am adding. Mike did a great job and I appreciate him taking care of these for me.... It is so easy getting stuff from someone who knows about this stuff and has done it before. Mike made the same panels for AndyG's 197 (Pic of Andy's below)

Does it prevent you from putting your ski there?

Hey, it looks great! But I was wondering about putting a ski in that area. Can it still fit? THANKS

Ski won't fit but his tube fits fine.

Found my camera so here is the condensed version....

First order of business was to relocate the heater from under the observer's seat to under the driver's dash. It was actually easier than I had expected, but took a lot of contorting and bending to get it mounted. On the floor of this area I will be mounting my Aux. battery. I want the battery to be the last thing in, so when I need to remove it, it will be the first thing out.

Here is a pic of the heater unit (grey box).
