  • Audio Install in Nashville, TN area

I'm thinking about adding to my stereo system and wanted to see if anyone had any recommendations/experience with anybody that does boat audio install in the Nashville area.

Boat is an X-30. I currently have a sub and 2 tower speakers that are running off an amp mounted on the side wall behind the spotters seat. I'm looking to add an additional amp in the same spot along with 2 more tower speakers.

Any recommendations on installers would be appreciated.

I can't tell you where to go but what I would recommend you do as a nice upgrade to the system you have at a very reasonable cost would be:

-replace current amp with a JL 900/5 to run the in boat speakers and the sub
-add two more JL tower speakers
-add a M600/4 (or a M800/8v2 if you need to get a little crazier) for the four tower speakers.

Factory sub isn't bad, but once you start going with a bigger sub, you are going to have to look at battery considerations...then the alternator...then the charging system. Long story short, either go fairly straight forward like above, which will sound awesome and be reasonable, or go BIG and prepare to spend thousands...good luck!

Aqua Sport Marine in Lebanon does good stereo installs and I trust those guys with everything on my boat. Ask for Michael in the service department

Maybe it's different now, but if the same people that worked at performance marine are still there, they don't have any business installing stereos. We had the wetsounds double up package installed a few years back and when we got the boat back from them, all 4 tower speakers were wired to the tower light circuit in the tower. We had to spend half the night rewiring it ourselves.

I would say to check with Aqua Sport. They just built a new location and seem to have really stepped things up.

My vote would be HiFi buys on Nolensville road. Granted they're not specifically a Watersports place, but their expertise on audio/visual is unmatched. They did my home stero, my truck system, and a good friends Cobalt boat system...all phenomenal.

The current owners sold Performance Marine to another person a few years ago when it was close to the Percy Priest Dam. That person owned it for a few years before closing it. I'm guessing you may have been then under the old ownership. Then the original owners started back up Aqua Sport Marine. I have had nothing but great experiences with Aqua Sport Marine.

I would let them hook up a stereo system long before a car stereo place. Reason being boats are different than cars. Aqua Sport will know what every wire internally is for. A guy at Hi-Fi buys or Best Buy and etc.. will not. So you may get a great stereo system from those places and be stuck in a cove because your boat won't start. Just something to think about.

You want to see a person as mad as they can get? Find a person with a boat that won't start! I can assure you they are NOT in a good mood!

I will give props to Aqua Sport Marine as well on their service - I haven't experienced a stereo install through them; however they have been nothing short of supportive and customer service oriented for any other needs or questions that I have had.

Agreed. The original owners are back and the service dept has some really knowledgeable people these days. I was just there today, and I know the owners well. Good people.

I second Aqua Sport, I have worked with them a lot over the last year and couldn't say enough good things about them. They have been great to work with and are a great group of guys.
