  • 89 prostar passenger side head unit installs

Hey guys, did a search for this but just turned up a couple of pics that won't work for this application.

I have a friend with an 89 prostar 190 who is looking for any HEAD UNIT install pics other owners have done in the dash facia on the passenger side. Any good ones out there? He doesn't want to install below the dash at steering wheel where most seem to be locating...

    Thanks in advance,

I went with a direct connection to my amp via small 3.5mm din plug to my iPhone. Super clean look with kind of a stealthy appearance because of no stereo in dash. I'll see if I have any pics. Otherwise it's be a couple months before it's out of storage.

You said the pictures you found would not work "for this application". What does that mean?

I have an 89 ps190 with a Fusion RA205 installed in the dash/deck + small Alpine amp under the deck.

My uncles is installed to the right of the glove box below the mirror. There is a flat area that is angled a bit. I have no pics as his boat is in SC but it is clean and easy to see. You will have to cut a hole there to add it.

Up that is where it is. Fits nice. I actually just put a new radio in for him. He had an OLD pull out pioneer radio...you know where the whole dang thing pulled out. Sounds much better with new speakers. Used to drive me nuts with 1 or 2 speakers cutting in and out.

Its a pretty easy install. Would be really easy to install an amp and sub up there as well as the battery is right there.

Hey tph, how is that deck mounted underneath? I'm curious to the stability of the decks when they are mounted at an angle like that. Mine is currently under drivers side and I hate it. I would love to move it where you have yours located. Just wondering how you have it secured.

              thanks!

The rear of my head unit has a threaded hole for attaching a support strap with a machine screw. I think most do. The other end of the strap connects nicely to the underside of the boat deck. It supports the head unit very well. I'm 150 Mi. from the boat right now otherwise I would attach a picture.
