  • How to mount speakers on tower

Looking at a set of speakers from a 2007 tower to mount to my 2006 full size tower.

I do not have any mounting points what so ever on my tower.

He is a speaker I am looking to install.

I have found some small amount of into to drill a hole all the way through from the top of the tower. I would guess a larger hole from the top to a thru hole on the bottom to hold on a socket head cap screw or something similar into the speaker.

It won't work, unless you weld some of the 2007+ mounting bungs onto the tower.

It would be easier to use a universal clamp and machine an adapter to mate them.

How did the 05 - 06 speakers mount to the tower?

The cans were slightly different for 05-06. There was a chamfer in the cans so they would sit flush to the tower. Big hole in top of the tower and small hole in the bottom that an allen head bolt dropped through and into the speaker can. Washers and nylocks held the cans in place. The newer style cans, like you have, have a cone that is designed to mount up to a matching cone on the tower. I think they made brackets to mount the older 05-06 cans to the newer towers, but I haven't seen any brackets to go from the new cans to the older tower. Here is a picture of the 05-06 cans:

            Thanks for all the info!

I haven't purchased those cans yet.

I could design up some brackets to back date the mounting with these. Just extra cost.

            Thanks again.

              Figured out my solution.

I bought a set of the weld on adapters for the 07+ towers.

In the spring I'll find a welder to weld these mount points to my 06 tower. Drill a hole in the tower after welding. Bolt on and go.

Here are a few pics of the adapters I bought. They fit my tower diameter perfectly.

Here is a photo I found online of the weld inside the adapter. That's what I am going for.

Sounds like a solid plan. I went a different direction and I'm getting the newer tower (2007+) installed this winter. The mounting for the 2007 speaker cans is much better than 2005/2006 where they drilled two holes and dropped a bolt through.

                  Speaker project completed.

Had the adapters welded on just like planned. Here are a few photos.

Had a good buddy with a flatbed to transport.

Sanded down some of the clear annodizing inside the ring for welding prep

Just have to complete the plug system, where the tower splits to fold.

Where did you buy the mounting brackets. I have the same speakers as you but they didn't come with the mounting hardware. The tower I have already has the mounting brackets, I just need the part (and screw) that mates the speaker to the bracket on the tower.
Attached picture is what I need.

                        Try contacting GereMarie.com

That is where I bought the part that weld to the tower. (the mating part) of what you are looking for.

Does anyone have dimensions for the weld on tower adapter?

                          bolt hole dimensions as well?
