  • 12" JL SUB behind driver

Has anyone made this happen in an X-series?
I seem to remember someone making it fit?

I am wondering if the 10" can be swapped for 12".
I know there are a few JL models in 12" that have different "depth"

I like the Idea of the 12" sub after have 2 of them in my last boat (G21)
Its an entirely different level of effortless bass/sub even at low volumes.

if there is a thread on this please post

Are you opposed to having it under the drivers helm?

I added a second JL 10" sub to my X23 and it made a world of difference. More than what I need but really balanced the highs with the lows IMO.

I am not opposed to that idea..
But "if" I can fit a JL 12" in the factory location, I will be all set...and I think I can do the work myself.

After having the 12" ...its just a differnt beast...very un-forced sub...even when used with existing amp config

You’re comparing the free air sub to your two 12w3s in a box. You’ll be very disappointed if you’re trying to recreate that sound

Considering this as well as the WetSounds 12". JL is the better sub but WS comes in 2ohm and 4ohm versions.

Curious of this myself. I bought the new JL infinite baffle 12" but from what I estimate it won't work in the same spot for my X2. It appears it may go under the helm. I wish I had the measurement of that area, unfortunately my boat is in east tx for winter storage.

I'm thinking of installing either a 10" or 12" in the factory spot in my 2012 X2. I'm going to measure to see if either/both will work with the cooler in place. The 10" sub has a 6" incursion into the cooler compartment and the 12" sub has a 8" incursion into the cooler compartment. I'll post what I find out this weekend.

My cooler is on the port side, so I have plenty of room, just need to make sure I have enough height and width for 14", the face of the speaker is 13.75 I think..

I’d rather put a box behind the factory sub opening... especially for a $700 sub

Not if its the IB. A small enclosure makes an IB into a 1 note wonder IMO.
