Ordering a boat without a stereo?

FYI all, I decided to just go ahead with the factory stereo. My wife said she didn't want me drilling holes in our brand new boat, haha.

I want to say that on my buddies they have 75 watts to all the speakers but I am not sure. I think the system sounds pretty good for not breaking the bank.

If you want a JL/Wetsounds system that will satisfy, (if you do it yourself) you'll probably come out somewhere around $2500, give or take $500. I think the advanced audio on the NXT like is something like $4k, so doing it after the fact is almost a no brainer.
I think if you only go with a HU and 4 cabins you'll be disappointed...

I noticed you edited your post... not sure I could keep the 209, haha. Why do you think I'd miss it? I admit a certain romanticism with not having a massive boat, but the family is starting to get cramped.

I didnt know they would allow you to order without a stereo? I know it was an option on the Prostar, but thought the bigger boats required it. I would do the same. Order without and get better quality for the same or less money.

I would not order one with a stereo personally as I feel you can get much greater value out of a system you either do yourself or have someone do for you.

Yes - approaching with basic needs as you spoke. Nothing wrong with that.
No - You will be much happier with the results by installing an amplifier for the cabins and a sub-woofer to compliment the cabins.

Ordering a boat without a stereo?
Trying to finalize an order for an NXT22, if they can secure me a build spot. One of the things I'm wondering about is ordering the boat without a stereo. Seems like the base Klipsch Commander system is pretty…..basic, especially for what they're charging for it. So, I'm wondering about options for a similar system because I figure I should be able to install something with similar capabilities for much, much less. I'll admit my requirements are pretty easy: no tower speakers, no subwoofers, and just 4-6 cabin speakers.
It looks like a basic Wet Sounds system with MC5 head unit and four speakers would be like $750. Maybe that could get me started, and then a minor upgrade down the road could be another pair of cabin speakers and a small amp.
Am I thinking about this right?Tags: None
