The dealer sent me the newest P/N ballast bags for our 2018 Xstar after the originals had a leaking fitting. I installed them, but now I am having ballast hose issues. Has anyone else seen this? Any guess on how much I should shorten them? Would it help to go to straight connectors instead of elbows?

I'd have to check again, but I'm almost positive that all of mine are straight connectors on both the fill port and overflow. I changed the fill connectors to elbow connectors instead of the elbow with a couple of inches of hose and then a straight connector. I have no kinking issues on the overflows with the straight connectors. The port connector looks like it will be about the right length if you change connectors. You might have to cut just a little off. The starboard one looks like it will need more taken off of it and will probably help to rotate the thru hull fitting so it's closer to straight up and down.
I also learned the hard way that a good heat gun is a must if you're making any connections with the 1.5" hose. -
