I'm shocked at how complicated Mastercraft has made this ballast system. On my old Maristar I plumbed in my own ballast and had zero issues. It was a simple 3 way switch from wakemakers. I ran power to the switch and then power from the switch to the pumps. Wondering if I can do something similar in the new X15 and completely bypass the dumb timer module. I thought I read somewhere that relays would need to be used. Why would that be? The switches in the X15 must not be able to handle the current that the pump draws?
I need to get this fixed asap. My wife is ready to kill me because the new boat we spent a fortune on doesn't work the way it should.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The 2011 X15 has a different timer that I cannot reprogram. I would suggest that you build or buy a relay box and run the pumps from individual switches. If you look on ebay, you can find new old-stock MC ballast control boxes that are wired with relays.'07 Navy Blue X2 MCX

I ended up completely rewiring my ballast pumps. Replaced the stock switches (5 prong) with new DPDT switches(8 prong). Ran power wires to the switch and wires to the pump. Works perfect now. When I turn the pumps on they stay on till I turn them off. In my book simple is always better!

Thanks tr6coug!!
I bought my 2007 X2 last winter, and did not have the chance to fill the ballast before purchase. I discovered the timer issue this spring, and was told by the Mastercraft dealership that my only option was to flip the switch every 30 seconds, or buy 3 new pumps! $$$$ I found this thread and was ready to have the programmers shipped to Boise when tr6coug told me he was coming to Boise on business. He brought the programmer and came out to my house and programmed it for me!! What a great guy, with a wealth of Mastercraft knowledge! Thanks again!!
ps. Been to the lake several times, and the timers work flawlesslyLast edited by pabstmike; 07-01-2018, 11:40 PM. Reason: forgot to put the status of the repair in original post

@tr6coug (and others)
Here's my situation - 2007 x45. I had bakes marine in Seattle put in 2 extra sacs a year ago and they upgraded the controllers to the newer jabsco 18500 0520. I think they did this b/c these can be programmed for longer than the factory? Not sure exactly why in hindsight. I still have the factory original controllers as well.
I now have a situation where my starboard pump will fill but not empty. It's not the pump / impeller - I can plug it into the middle controller and it will empty fine. I also changed the wiring to another switch and that didn't help. I called Jabsco and they are pretty sure it's the controller.
So my situation, I think, is I can replace the newer controller (Jabsco will replace for free) or just have tr6coug reprogram the factor original controller.
Does this sound right? Any other tips for this situation?
Thanks!

If I reprogram the original one you can set it for any amount of time you need. Sounds like the new timer may be bad and if Jabsco will replace it then I would have them do that.'07 Navy Blue X2 MCX
