2006 X45 Wake Surf Set Up

I have a 2006 x-45 with the 8.1L in it. I am a huge wakeboarder but all my friends that come with me and all the girls just want to wake surf. I have the factory ballast in there and the adjustment plate also but i cant seem to get the wake strong enough to surf with out a rope.

Just looking some advice on how to accomplish wake surfing without a rope. If its another ballast adding trim tabs to the bottom, just let me know what has been working for you all.

Add more Ballast....check Wakemakers.com for Ballast Bags.
I recommend Fatsack that match the Storage next to the engine x-star model 2010 bags fit well.
Additionally get some Fatbricks and a Hurrican Pump.

Factory Ballast fill the side you want to surf...and cockpit Tank....leave other side tank empty.
In general: Most Ballast you can put always in the back and side you surf.
Speed around 10 miles.

I have 2010 x45 and surfing works great without rope with this setup. Surftabs not needed (I have them and dont use them) Adjustment plate up...only use for skiing to flat the wake.

We have an '08 X45 and we surf 90% of the time. Our setup is:

Stock ballast filled (1000 lbs total)
400 in each rear locker
1000 on front seat (working to get this plumbed in under seats this year)
add'l 750 that we center on the floor in the rear of the boat if we have fewer than 5 adults in the boat
Mission Delta on side opposite of surfer.

So we weigh our boat evenly and attach the wakeshaper to shape our wave. The first time we tried, all we had was stock full and then would fill rear locker on whatever side we were surfing, not even close to being able to surf. Then we got the 1000 lb sack up front and we could throw the rope, but still wasn't great. Then we put the 750 on the side we would surf and it was pretty good. When we finally added the Mission Delta (or any wakeshaper for that matter) and evenly weighted our boat, it literally doubled our wave overnight and is now a blast to surf. Good luck

45/245 vrs/Maristars (same hull) are great surfers! Mission Delta is the only (that i know) stock gate that has suction cups small enough to be fitted on the nonsurf side of the hull. it has to fit on lower sidestep of the hull though. Or one can also use wedges with velcro. Definitely need weight in both rear lockers in addition to stock hard tanks. 750 can easily fit in each rear locker. Another 750 on the front or on each side (2x350) under the front seats. (Tons of room on that hull and your engine will do it for sure). If you have one 750 (FBS) up front or people equivalent you will have "magic carpet" 15 feet behind the boat any newbie can surf that on any board from the first try. My malibu friends call it "beginner wave" but i call it plush: it's long, mellow and has tons of push in huge pocket. If you throw $500 lenco trim tabs on it you will not need any suck gates or wedges it will clean the wave dandy without any computer or other electronics; just up or down. Or go GSA for $4k with the same effect; hey if you are filling 90 gallons tank in that thing every outing what is $4k?

Two 750's on each side in the, two 350 or 750 FBS under front seats and people on surf side will do just fine for a good wave. Mission Delta or trim tab down on non surf side will clean the wake.

We have an '06 X-45. Run stock hard tanks (1000# total) and 450's in each rear locker. We use Swell Slim which I added a Wal-Mart cutting board to increase the surface area. We are able to surf all day long without bags on the floor or seats.

I am sure it could be better with the addition of more weight, though my wife would kill me if we had bags on the floor or seats.

I keep the center tab mostly in the up position.

I plan on upgrading to 1100's in each rear locker.

I also have after market Gen 2 tabs that I don't feel give near as good of a wave as the Swell Slim.

1000 lbs in each stern locker. Newly added 200lbs lead up front under seat (new addition and awesome), 10.0 speed. It likes to go slower than newer boats.
