  • Ballast Puppy seal replacement?

My port side ballast wouldn't fill, so went through the process of elimination to figure it out. I found the pump would run in both directions. After checking for splits or leaks, I ran the pump without the cover and found that when I held the cover on, it started sucking in water and then the pump would immediately shut off. I flipped the pump, mounting it motor up, but it still does the same thing. I'm guessing that when the water gets to the impeller, it must leak into the motor and short it out. Does anyone know if there is a seal that can be replaced? I've searched several threads, but can't find anything on a seal replacement.

There is a lip seal in the bottom of the brass housing that seals to the shaft of the motor. You can just drive it out with a socket and hammer if you don't have a press. They are not in their super tight anyway. I have some if you need them. $8 each plus shipping.

Thanks for the info. I'm planning to pull the pump apart this weekend and see what the motor looks like. If it isn't too rusty, I'll be ordering a seal from you.
