2013 xstar with tanks bags and gen 2

spent an awesome week on vacation, one thing I noticed is that it seems the ballast bags are somehow how slowly draining? it takes some time couple hours of surfing and then have lost a lot of water, any suggestions? thanks

Re-plumb the overflow fill/drain lines to up above the rub rail then back down to the hard tanks.

ok so if we discuss just the rear right corner we have a bag and a tank, do they share a pump or each have their own pump,?

I don't have an answer for your specific boat. But the idea is that the fill hose between the pump and bag needs to loop up to a point higher than the bag so that the head pressure from the bag isn't forcing water back out past the pump. This is the explanation I got straight from MC engineering. Your mileage may vary.

That make sense to me. Thanks so much!

You might try to replace the impeller inside the ballast pump. If it doesn't seal well, then yes, the fluid can drain backwards. (I think that the Jabsco website talks about that when you look at their impellar section.)

Is the water going through the Bilge?

Havw the same problem. Just run the over ride for 30 seconds on each tank between sets or until it spits out the side. Much easier than tearing into your ballast systems plumbing imho

no and I did re run the ballast bag fill hose up above height of top of bag to get rid of head pressure, I may throw some new impellors in not hard for me to do

Where did you get the impellers from?

Not sure how to say this and not sound like Captain Obvious ...... but I think you found your problem.

Basically your two options are to either replace the hard tanks with new ones or ditch the hard tanks all together and revert to using larger bags that fill the entire compartment.

Bad news is the topdeck may need to be separated from the hull bottom to replace the tanks, or you may need to have custom shaped bags made to replace the tanks and Gen 2 bags all together.
