  • leak detector dye for cooling system

The stuff they use to detect coolant leaks in cars is ok for open cooling in boats, right? Don't see any reason why it wouldn't be, but just checking to make sure.

I’m not so sure how well that dye would work in an open system. I’d imagine that you’d need to use a lot of it, and be prepared that as the water comes out of the exhaust, the dye is gonna make quite a mess.

another related question: Ilmor MV8 6.0. I swapped out my raw water pump with a new one. My old one has a brass 90deg elbow. I robbed that one and placed it on the new pump. Anyone know where I can get a replacement for the elbow? I have already installed a new impeller and gasket, and I would like another brass elbow to put on the old pump so I can just swap the old pump back into the boat next year at this time. Thanks
