Holley 4160 Carburetor hard starting only when cold

I figured out my cold start problem. I read about it on a hot rod forum and ended up putting a Carter check valve about one foot below the mechanical fuel pump to prevent the fuel in the line from leaking back down into the tank.

Bam, it starts instantly now. I’m not sure why the fuel was leaking back down, but that was the trick for my cold starts!

Check your other (OEM) anti-siphon valve and make sure it is clean or remove it altogether.

Where does the other anti-siphon valve live at?

At the fuel cell, in the fitting, where the fuel line connects.
