You are correct - the sac(s) fill and empty through the same hose. The other two are just vents. Apparently two vents are needed to prevent the sac(s) from rupturing, as the pump can circulate the water pretty quickly and not allow air to escape.

Well the impeller pump was basically where you all had mentioned.
After I removed the trunk sections that just pull out in the back, I
then had 6 screws to remove from the far rear section which exposed
the pump. You'll need a right angle screwdriver to remove the three
screws which are on the cover to the impeller. Also, be sure to be
very careful not to drop a screw under the tank. I also used
this time to power wash off the carpet sections to make them look
    nicer.

If you have time, please take any pictures and post them or email them to me at [email protected] I know I'll have to replace soon.
    thanks George

I forgot to mention you may also have to take off the carpeted trim panel that runs along the back of the fuel tank - there are 4 or 5 screws that you'll be able to feel in the carpet. That should expose everything nicely for you. Let us know how it goes!!

Thanks for the information! I'll pop the trunk and take a look tomorrow weather permitting.

I'm not positive on an '02, but on the '05's the ballast pump is located in the "trunk". You'll need to lift out the floor of the trunk to expose the fuel tank. The pump should be right behind the fuel pump. It might be easier for you to remove the hold down screws for the pump to get at the impeller housing more conveniently. Just take off the three screws holding on the impeller cover and pull out the old one. Will probably take longer to unload all the ski ropes and vests out of the trunk than to change the impeller out.

    2002 X-7 Ballast Impeller Replacement??

Maybe someone can save me some time by not looking in the wrong locations. I need to replace the impeller for my ballast bag on my 2002 X-7. Can someone tell me where the current impeller/pump is located on my boat?
Working...
