  • No experience with that ski gweaver, but the epoxy fix should work no problem. I've fixed many skis with two part epoxy and haven't had a repair fail yet.

    • I polished up 70% of the boat on Sat by hand while our 1yr old took a nap and the rest of the kids watched a movie. It was a whole different process between brief rain fall to dry off, wax, polish...dry again and repeat. I would have done the teak but the weather broke so we got skiing ASAP.

I didn't mind staring at my new interior through the process. Not thinking about grad school and work was fantastic therapy.

I also figured out I'm going to need a new raw water pump. It's leaking, I'm not sure how the bearings are doing, I'm short on time and I found one for $156 on Amazon of all places.

        • Bathed the boat and trailer.
Being on the water is best, but when I'm not on the water I'm on TT.

          • 1979 SNS - lots of work this weekend

Lost reverse a few months ago but still used boat regularly without issue. Found a used Velvet Drive 1:1 on Ebay which was 5 miles from me and removed old trans/installed new this weekend. These boats are great - designed to be serviced.

Noticed that a trans mount was cracked and the trans hoses/cooler looked like they needed replacing too so installed new mounts/cooling system. Neoprene shaft seal too.

Trans is heavy but with some help got old one out and new one in - attached hoses/cooler, stuffed shaft seal in which was kind of a pita (could only get 2 "loops" in). The majority of my time was spent locating new mounting hardware but the job is 95% finished. Just need to align motor/trans, tighten up mount bolts, attach flange and cross my fingers. Probably need to clean carpet/gunnels too.

Question - new trans is 71C 1:1 and is identical in everyway to old one but model numbers are different; I don't see "71C" on old trans ID plate.....do I have to worry about rotation direction? Mine was a left rotation - I assume engine always turns same direction and trans determines which way prop turns? So hoping worst case scenario I may have a right rotation after this exchange and need new prop?

            • My wife and I spend the afternoon at the dock cleaning up our week old 209. We polished the seats with some StarBrite and 303. Also got in the water to wipe down the underside of the hull, exhaust area, decals, etc.

A couple sun-burns later, the 209 is looking fab!

              • Started fitting a ND mini tower to my 2000 prostar 190. Wayne shipped it to OZ flat packed, what I didn't realize was that flat packed meant nothing welded, Hmm got a bit more work ahead of me than I planned. I ordered it a bit lower than normal and a few other changes so am making it up as we go. In a weeks time I will have time to get into the local engineer and get it all welded. We are in the middle of Winter here so no hurry.

                  • Pulled the fuel tank out and the original sender is shot. You would really think it would last longer than 35 years

New sender will be here Thursday.

I went to my local marina, which I typically never go too, to pick up some Teak Oil and maybe buy the Coupler, had one set hanging on the wall. So I bought them. Cost was about $23. It was an unexpected purchase.

If you need more detail I can find the package and let you know who made them.

Curious as to what your symptoms were?

My fuel guage will usually read correctly the first time I turn the key for the day, but after that it's anyones guess as to how much fuel is actually in the boat. The guage bounces all over the place while underway, and then will read less than a quarter tank when sitting still. It'll do this even after I just filled up.

Sound like a bad sender, or bad guage?

Sounds like a sender issue. The float might be loose and bouncing all over. To test the gauge and wiring, disconnect the wire to the sender and it should read empty. Then connect the two wires together and it should read full. You can also check sender operation with the sender out and watch the gauge, as well as you can use an ohmmeter and watch the resistance change throughout the range of the sender. 35-240 ohms is the range.

My gauge just didn't read anything other than empty and gauge and wiring checked out.
Removed sending unit and unit reads open at all times. Sender arrived yesterday and I will be installing it in a couple hours.
