Continued my trailer work (no pics)

Gutted ALL the "house wiring" (whatta mess) and other bits from the trailer and continued the sanding, grinding, cleaning.... Lights were all new last year but I still need to replace, reinstall new wiring (and pigtails) and the new hubs/bearings....

      • Pulled the engine cover and cleaned off the old foam. Scraped the old adhesive off and used Goof off for the final wipe down. I bought new sound proof foam from McMaster to replace it. Hope to finish this up next week. Next I want to replace the exhaust hoses.

I'm on my way to werk right now, in Dubai, heading to Perth. I plan on installing everything when I get back in January. I plan to remove them like what was discribed in the above link, but installation will be a bit different. I'm going with the white ones and I will freeze them, this is so they will shrink up. Same with any high tolerance bearings. I may have to use an all thead, washers, and nuts to pull them into place but hopefully they slide right in.

I'm going to be removing the shaft too as I have some evidence in the strut that the PO hit something hard. I have checked the alignment last year and it's good, but I want to be sure. Hopefully I can get the coupling off the shaft as discribed in SKIDIMs dripless bearing installation section. I think it's posted here too. On my iPhone right now so it's he!! Trying to post links, but you cam find it.

I plan on posting pics in the proper section when I get home and do the werk. I'm also going to be replacing my trailer bunks with plastic bunks from Ultimate Bunks. Can't wait!!!

I only spent 280 at SKIDIMS with the 12% discount so I was happy. I got a few other things that I didn't post above. :-) like a new belt eventhough mine isn't bad, I will put a new one on and zip tie the old one on so it's there to get me home one day.

                        • I decided that I would pull my left riser (since it showed some minor leakage and mostly because I had the hardware kit to reinstall with new gasket and hardware and like to tear into things).

The four 5/16 hex heads come off without too much fuss. I am always fearful of shearing something with old hardware (especially rusty hardware). The good news is that the old gasket came off in nearly one piece using a razor blade and a metal putty knife. The manifold cleaned up in no time.

My riser hoses were a bit suspect, plus the right one had taken a kink that would not come out. They were both bound to the attach points, so I made a command decision to give them the blade to get them off.

The picture does not show it well, but there was some mild delamination inside both hoses. Not failure imminent, but they had been on for a while.

Here is an overhead with riser removed and riser hoses in the trash bin. New stuff soon.

They both measured about 17", so a 3' section will do nicely with an inch shaved off each. Now that is being efficient with materials!

Interesting to see folks looking inside of their exhaust hose to check for any issues. I hope the OCDs get the fever and pull their risers this winter... lol... they need to...

                                Thanks for the pictures.

                                .
Yeah thanks to you guys my boat is in shambles...lol... both risers off, both hoses inspected and ok...took apart steering to clean and tighten up.......

Took speedo's off so I could make sure they are clean on the inside and make a new tube connection.

Start re-riveting the rub rail.....used 3m 5200 to reseal the connection between deck and hull and used to seat and seal rivets. Damn that stuff cures slow in a cool garage...but sticks to fiberglass great. will post pics later this weekend... will be my last weekend to work on the mistress until mid January... holidays and a week long trip to Riviera Maya Mexico....

The OCD is in hi gear... lol
