  • So when you don't ski behind an MC....

or board, or whatever. Just say you want to get out on the water - your buddy has an (fill-in-the-blank) ready to roll. What is it and how would you describe riding behind it?
My friend has a deck boat. A Donzi deck boat. Not sure of the motor, a Merc I/O and about 3 minutes to hit 30mph with a wake 4 feet tall. Handles like a floating bath tub. But..it floats, runs and is 'better than nothing' for a quick set. Just barely
Any others not too proud just to get out there on 'whatever' and have some fun when it's quicker/easier than getting your beloved MasterCraft out?

I once wakeboarded behind a 14' flat bottom jon boat in Bahrain at the Marina Club in Al Manama, that body of water was so salty that you didn't need a jacket to stay afloat. I also saw a GT supercar race in Bahrain on this deployment. 2005-2006

Rope, boat, wAter all fine with me. Always prefer an MC but who cares sometimes, just enjoy the pull.
Ski in snow, ski in water, and always have fun!

Up till I was 20 we had a small outboard skiboat, 14'9" with an 85hp Johnson two stroke that you had to mix fuel for. It had practically no wake and took a while to get me out of the water but had a blast behind it. It was fine for open water skiing but pulled around waaay to much to ever put through a course and had a turning circle twice that of a Mac truck. It was easy to launch and 10gal of fuel for a full day of enjoyment. Put on a few lbs since then and it probably wouldn't get me out of the hole now but still loved that boat!!

Until 2010 from 1993 got a tow when possible from an alumacraft trophy 170 with a Mariner 90hp. No tow pylon - had to deep water start on 2 and drop 1. Was good enough until was able to get my MC....

Learned to ski and slalom behind a 15 ft 1970 crestliner with a 60 HP outboard.

Learned to foot long line behind an 18 ft sea ray with a 135 outboard

Never had access to a boat with a boom or had been behind an inboard until my 1992 prostar

Used to ski and kneeboard behind a 1968 16' Kingfisher bassboat with a 40hp Erud. You could pull the stern a couple of feet out when you swung outside the wake.

My brother has a 1977 Glastron Carlson CVX-16 with a 115 that pulls pretty well and looks cool too.

I ski behind a 2004 Ski Nautique 206 SE. Every other outing.

Two-ski'd behind a Wellcraft 200 before I got my MC. I pulled the arse of that thing all over the place.... Not a real pull.

I guess I'm spoiled lately. I have access to slalom pulls behind a 2012 CC 200 and a '08 BU Response. For wakeboard a Supra 22V or a Supreme 226 (I actually prefer this boat for surfing, it's dynamite!)

BTW, you first 4 gentlemen are on here late on a saturday night when you should be smooshing with your ladies.........
                    I was njskier on here.

Me: 13' Whaler (still in the family) and a 33HP Johnson I'll bet 20 people learned to ski behind that boat!

Crap, this is the only thing keeping me sane. 500,000 without power in Central/SW Virginia in into WVA. My neighbor across the street never lost power - me, not so lucky.

However, I have a generator with some fans running, internet access and fridge/freezer. I

It's nuts around here, almost 80% of the greater metropolitan area is without power and won't get it back until mid to end of week!

Folks are waiting in LONG lines for gas. Thankfully I had almost a full tank in my prostar so I'm
siphoning to avoid the fuel lines!

I'll do what it takes to get on the water. I've skied behind almost anything. Sometimes you need to get creative. In college at 6'3" 265 I skied behind my uncle's 17 ft line with a 40 HP evinrude with three adults in it. I was riding an old Sears and Roebuck ski that had washed up on the beach using an old broom handle tied to a piece of rope that was used primarily to tie up the dog. They had to do a half circle around me to get the boat planed off so it could pull me up.
These days it's mostly my stars and stripes, neighbors SAN 210, or buddies Supra. I guess I've gotten spoiled. When we get back to Michigan both of my brothers run pro stars, so that's always a decent trip.
I spent most of my money on booze, broads and boats. The rest I wasted. - Elmore Leonard
I had always thought that there was nothing quite so sad as an abandoned boat.-Terry Hayes
