You may not have to replace the shaft log (it's not a part that wears) Dropping the shaft and replacing the cutlass bearings is a good idea. The shaft may get in the way of this repair anyhow. Especially if you have the Powerslot transmission.
I may have used the wrong term - I was referring to the hose section from the log to the packing seal. Mine is looking pretty bad.
I do have the Powerslot, so not quite as much room to work but still a pretty easy repair. I replaced my packing last year with the Gore material, very satisfied with it. Just a slight drip but the shaft runs very cool.

Thanks for the compliments guys! I got the new packing installed this morning and went ahead and replaced all of my blower and exhaust hoses while I had the rear panel out. Heading to the lake now to check the repair and get a few slalom runs in!!! Sunny 68 here!
