Guys I need your help, I wand to remove the most aft piece of carpeted panel in the trunk of my 197 but I am stumped. I need to get at the bolts to tighten the aft pull bar as it is slightly loose.

If you are talking about the vertical piece, there should be several screws along the top edge of the panel. They are typically not visible as they're somewhat buried in the carpet. Once these are out the panel can be lifted out

I just had mine off the other day while replacing my fuel pump. I pulled off six screws. It's a fairly flexible plastic piece that I had to bend to get it in and out. But as others have said, the screws are hidden by the carpet. You should have no problem.__________________

Good to hear you got that solved! After a few months of ownership you'll have her just where you want her--at least that was our experience with a used boat. Main systems like engine, trans, and electronics have been bulletproof so far, so I don't mind the little fixes and enhancements like adding 2nd battery, charger, transom remote, subwoofer, etc.

I'm with ya. I'm kind of likeing having a used boat. After seeing it as bad as it was when I got it, I don't mind if the kids jump around in it and smash a crack. I like customizing as well.
No way I would want a new boat. I couldn't even enjoy it because I would be so worried about stuff or people screwing it up.sigpic

EXACTLY! mine is appropriately pre-scuffed so all I ever really obsess over is being safe and having fun! With three teens, it's the perfect situation.
