  • 2004 x30 questions

hi im new to the forum I have a 2004 x30 that needs some parts if anyone can help with pictures and part numbers. First im missing strut mounts on the back 2 side lockers where they mount to the fiberglass, the kgb/ski locker and the glove box.Is it a pain to make 2 more intakes for the ballast system? Thanks a lot to everyone and im sure ill have more questions .

If the struts are still there, check what kind of fitting they have. I recall them being ball-mount fittings. Etrailer sells them, shouldn't be too hard to figure out what type you need, based on where the existing screw holes are. LINK

I haven't added extra ballast intakes, but there's a user here, Prostar205 who has the same boat we do. He added extra intakes, I think. I recall a 'how to' being posted. Found it-> LINK Here's another install writeup. LINK
Wakemakers did a video too. LINK

I think the big thing with adding intakes is to make triple sure that the thru-hulls and the seacocks will fit where you're drilling, and you're not drilling in to the oil pan or something.

I know they're older boats, and the hull shape isn't ideal compared to modern hulls, but these boats are still great boats for boardsports. I get a decent surf wake in mine, and it's got a ton of room for people and gear. Enjoy!

Jduddman - If you are in or near the Seattle area, I'm happy to show you what I've done to my 2002 X30.

Adding a couple more intakes for the ballast is a must as it removing the ballast manifold.

There are a ton of relatively easy upgrades people can do to these boats.

Hi I am wondering if you can email me ballast info? I have an 04 x30 I just installed the go surf assist. I ordered 900 lb rear ballast bags from wake-makers a month ago but now they are telling me it will be on backorder until August mid. I am taking the boat in 10 days to Lake Santeetlah and wanted the ballast fixed, you have any other ideas or option suggestions for ballast upgrade, right now I have the factory installed hard tanks that seem to be leaking and junk, any help or suggestions appreciated, Thanks much Im trying to make the wife and kids... and myself happy. I would try to find some ballast bags from another source; i.e. Craigslist, Barefoot International, Ronix, local boat dealer that has a proshop, Bakes Marine, Amazon, etc...

If you can't find any bags, you may have to go to lead weights for now.

You need to remove those worthless factory tanks for throw them away. They hold next to no usable weight and take up too much room.

Here is a link to my Ballast System makeover in my 2002 X30.

Here is a link on how to polish and port the insides of your ballast pumps.

Good luck and have a great time on vacation.
