Repower from Johnson to Mariner

Refurbishing a Hydrodyne. 1997 150hp Johnson doesn't push it along like I would like. A buddy of mine is repowering/selling his 1996 Mariner 200.

Do I just buy new controls? Recommended source?

Is there a conversion cable to still use Johnson controls? Source?

You’ll need new controls / cables as well as a boat side harness, possible you’ll need some of the steering parts as well.

I went the other way on my pontoon, a Mariner 90 to a Evinrude 115.

The steerer tube swapped over just fine.

I got a used forward control unit, both engines have their own type of cables, and their own wiring plugs.

The evinrude has an external oil tank the mercruiser has an internal oil tank.

So it is just easier to swap everything out.
