  • 06' X-30 Prop

I have an 06' X-30 with a 13.7x17 prop. It does not have enough low end torque. When I load it up with ballast and people it takes way too long to get up on plain. Any suggestions on what pitch and size prop would work better.

I put a Acme 1285 on my X45 and it made a big difference. I can fill the boat up people and ballast and boat plains fast. I have the MCX.

I just put the 14.75 X 15.5 XMP Edge from OJ on for the same reasons. It is perfect for our use. We just use the factory ballast and run 6-12 ppl on a regular basis. With full ballast I had to change how I pulled the riders up cuz I was pulling the rope out of their hands. My top end dropped about 6 mph but the low end is perfect .

They also have a 14.25 X 14.5 if you are going to slam it out more and need even more low end. Here is Eric's explanation to me of the two.

"... The more aggressive of the two options would be the 14.25 X 14.5. The 14.75 X 15.5 will provide less low end improvement than the 14.25 X 14.5, still much better than the stock 13.7 X 17, but will run a bit faster on top end and lower overall RPM than the 14.25 X 14.5. "

Why yes I do love a rampy wake with a firm lip. Thanks for asking.

Bill Weeks at Acme recommended their #1479 for my 06 X-30... I sold the boat before I ever put it on to give you a report, however.

I have a Acme 1479 on my '07 X30. It made a big difference over the stock OJ. The 1285 has even better bottom end. I've got the LY6 engine so I backed off just a bit on the prop. I would guess the 1285 would work great on the MCX.

I have the 13.7 x 17 OJ XMP on my 2002 X30 with the L-18 engine. Plenty of low end pop to even get a skier out of the water. We typically run 1,500-2,000lbs of ballast and 4-5 people in the boat for surfing and boarding.

The key there is likely the L-18. With the MCX that load at WOT would take a 1/2 beer to get on plane
