Last year, I thought I maybe had 2 more years left in my vinyl if completely stretched. There were already cracks, rips, tears, etc. on the back seats, but for the most part I have worked hard to keep the 16 year old vinyl going strong. Although the reupholstery job was moved up to this year after some mishaps, and was made right by those people after doing so. And I can't thank them enough for making it as painless as possible with the process. Fast forward 6 weeks later and BOOM! I'm more excited for this summer than I have been in some time. If anyone is interested in who did the reupholstery it's in North Texas---Boat Interiors (The Original). There is a company well documented on TT that is a fraud of this guy with a very similar company name. Call Keith and he'll be the man with the plan. I'm nothing but ecstatic with the work and finished product!

The work looks amazing, and those colors are my favorite for boat interiors. It should be a great summer.Last edited by Mainely Wake; 03-16-2023, 02:52 PM.

Thanks for the ballpark. 4 years ago here in Michigan I got an estimate on an 07 X2 for $10K - $12K. From what I can we're about $2K more than you guys down south. One heck of an investment and something to really consider when looking at used boats with marginal or bad interiors.

I think it's basic supply and demand. We don't get that crazy heat and sun from months on end so you don't see people doing a lot of interiors and thus not a lot of interior shops or good ones anyway. The shops that are here though are booked solid and are a year out getting scheduled. The really good shops are even harder to get locked in. I've known a couple guys that did trips to Norris then after the trip dropped their boat off at Viper to get the interior done over the winter.
My deal was a difficult decision. My boat had low hours and was in great shape but the interior was just beginning to show it's age. I could make it look good enough to sell but the MC-OCD in me was driving me crazy. At the time I knew I could get (pre covid) $38K (I ended up with $40K). The thought of putting nearly 30% of the value into the boat for the new interior was tough to swallow. Between that and wanting a 2 post tower, I decided to let her go.
I ended up taking my time looking for a new boat and let the spring boat buying season pass. I found my current 2016 Nautique that July for $54K. It needed some heavy detailing but I ended up with a boat 9 years newer with upgraded features. With taxes and such it probably ended up costing me about $6K more than sticking with the X2 and new interior. Not too sure I could get those numbers to work in today's market but back then it really wasn't that difficult to do. Things are definitely crazy these days.
Regardless, I would have been really happy with an interior like the one you now have. It turned out really nice.
