Anyone have a recommendation for upholstery in the Indianapolis area? I was recently given Gibbs upholstery by PC Marine but haven't been to the shop yet to check it out.
Just had my interior on my prostar 190 redone last week by a small company in Mooresville called Indy Covers, prices were reasonable and in my opinion they did a great job. I can email you some pictures, so far I have gotten a ton of compliments and I have only had the boat back since Friday.
jwithers7, I would love to see some of the pics of the interior too! I had Indy Covers do a couple seat bottoms for my Tristar. Hoping to do more of the interior later maybe next year as we can afford it, but here's some pics. I have had a couple quality issues that I will look at with them when doing the rest, but their customer service is outstanding.
My experience with Gibbs: I've had them do two projects for me - repair a 22' pontoon cover that was ripped down the center in a wind storm and recover a headliner for an S10 pickup.
The pontoon cover repair was great. They fixed the rip and re-sewed all of the existing seams with new thread. They even did a few extras - replaced a plastic post holder that was cracked and added reinforcement material to a couple of places that had started to wear through. Very happy with the repair, $125.
The headliner (standard cab S10) was a different story. I had already removed the old fabric and sticky foam/adhesive. I took them the raw shell to be recovered. My fault for not getting a written quote before I had them do the work, but when I asked them how much it would be, they said it would be reasonable. When I picked up the completed headliner, the bill was $100. I was astounded and negotiated it down to $75, but still feel like this was too much. I'd give the quality of the headliner replacement a 7/10.
They have good reviews on Angie's List and I will probably use them again when needed, but I will get a quote in writing before any work is started.
Custom Vinyl Creations around Morse on Hague Road in Noblesville Rick did a great job on my boat. 371-4227 reasonably priced as well. I tried Smitty's I would not go back, just my opinion.
If for some reason you start to believe you are a person with influence, just try ordering somebody else's dog around.
I second Custom Vinyl Creations. Rick is great! He has done two covers for me. The most recent being a full water line cover for my X30. He does great work.
Thanks - went to Smitty's today and didn't get the feeling they really cared about going out of their way to match. They immediately said it wouldn't match perfect and proceeded to show me a sample that was about a 1/4 in square and a different texture as an example. I'll give Custom Vinyl a call

Exactly..
Rick will shoot you straight and cares. Worth a call to him for sure, a couple of us here recommended him, I would be interested in what you think.

I second Custom Vinyl Creations in Noblesville. I had them make me a fitted cover back in 08 and it still works perfect today. They did an excellent job and fitted the cover perfectly to the boat and tower. I had planned calling them this winter to get some tears repaired.
Hey guys, sorry to take so long in getting pics on here...I have included before and after photos for reference. Main photos are the spotters seat and rear seat and deck... also included the new cover.
Well in order to accurately justify the price I'll include the work done.
New "top gun nine" custom cover
New spotters seat with seat foam
New rear seat and seat back with seat foam (also built custom rear seat support, I think it can be seen in the pics)
New rear hatch cover with foam
New floor and carpet aft of the engine cover (old carpet did not match and board was poorly fit)
New driver seat bottom
** Also The white stitching on the bottom of the seats is custom, I wanted something different, I described it and they made it happen.
All top quality marine vinyl used.
The customer service was absolutely outstanding, very nice, professional, and courteous. After 2 weeks the boat was done. All said and done around $2300 out the door.
