Hey all it's been a while and I thought I'd share this with you. I should have posted when it happened but, oh well. I decided to tie the handle end on the end of the boom with the tow end still towed to the pylon to teach my daughter how to get up slalom on the handle short line. (trying to save the cost of a handle for end of boom) DON'T EVER DO THIS! When she was done I decided to go footin' on the boom with the handle still tied to the end and other end still attached to pylon, doh! Very stupid. I fell in off boom and rope got around my leg and actually snapped when it caught me around my leg as I came to a stop in the water with boat going about 42 mph. Pics are the result. I was unable to walk for six weeks, out of work for 8.

OUCH!!!! That looks so painful!
How did you get wrapped up in it? Was the line hanging with slack in it?

I had a similar issue like that about 3 years ago. I was barefooting and the clip that hooks into the front tow eye came loose, still no idea of how. The cables came back as I let go and hooked my right arm... (they don't break) the boom bent backwards, the motor box kept if from going to far back. The cables slung me into the side of the boat before I was able to free my arm. It wrapped around my armpit and dislocated my arm, severe rope burn, and severe swelling, and plenty of tore muscles and tendons... I hurt for weeks. I couldn't get my arm in a shirt for about a week. I had to make little tears....
There is a thread on here that has pictures... It hurt and made me think twice about checking the cables and attachment of the boom. I was very lucky and you are too.

That looks incredibly painful. Sorry you went through it but glad you are going to be OK. Thanks for sharing to hopefully keep it from happening to anyone else. I can see how you didn't foresee that happening.
I take it that the slack was coiled up in the boat and some loosened up and went overboard and you got wrapped up in it. Or something like that.Prior boats - (3) X14's, (3) Prostars, and a Tristar.
