What R U paying for Gas

Wow, I'll stop complaining about our measly $5 per US gallon.

I won't stop complaining about getting screwed for over-priced gas. There are laws specifically written for price-fixing. In any other industry, having prices set by all players regionally would be illegal. But what is the alternative...........government run gas pricing? Oh, wait......we have that with minimum price over wholesale already.

Last week I drove from Las Vegas to St. Paul (took I40 to Hwy 54 to I35) . Gas price was under $3 for most of the way. Got back to MN and $3.29

A lot of older people in manufacturing hated the prospect of learning it. Personally, I think that's really lame. Refusing to learn something? In 7th Grade, we ONLY worked with the Metric System. The only time we used English was at the beginning, when we learned to convert the units used most. After that, it was all the MKS system.

We have a long weekend coming up, so up goes the fuel prices. AUD$1.50 per Litre which I think converts to US$5.67 per Gallon, might be wrong with that conversion.

How much octane is your reg unleaded?

Our regular unleaded is 95 RON which I believe is about 90 Octane in the US.

$290? That's commitment right there. You must have figured an imperial gallon, we don't follow Englands' rules, (there was a big disagreement over them a few years ago). The US gallon is roughly 3.8 liters. Which puts the cost around $6.86 per gallon. Do you have different levels of octane? Is your fuel blended with alcohol? We have to deal with ethanol blended fuels, roughly 10%. My boat seems to prefer a steady diet of 91 octane, which is currently priced at $3.60 a gallon.

We have 4 levels including ethanol although it is not all popular and near no stations stock it.
98 premium unleaded
95 unleaded
91 unleaded
and 91/ethanol blend
91 unleaded is the everyday fuel selling today at 159.9 per litre the same price as diesel.
That's another suck in- diesel we have car diesel and truck diesel- 2 cent a litre dearer( 159.9) for car diesel which is supposed to be a cleaner diesel.
The biggest rip however is LPG- lp gas for cars/ trucks- 89.9 cents a litre

I did forget to mention that our fuel is very clean and we don't need to add any additives to clean it up- that is one bonus we share when we bend over at the pumps and get a rocket up where the sun either does or does not shine. Every now and then we will get e report of bad fuel but that is usually as a result of water in station tanks

Be thankful Ethanol isn"t mandatory for you- it's more expensive, it reduces the energy density of the fuel and using corn as the source has caused tremendous economic damage to the economy because it removed that corn from it's normal uses. Fuel economy suffers, engine damage occurs in older vehicles and equipment that wasn't designed for it and that cost is also very large.

It's not that our fuel isn't clean, it's the components in the exhaust that cause pollution in high population-density areas. Here in Milwaukee, Wisconsin (and the surrounding counties), we don't have a choice- it's ethanol or diesel. Well, or buying a fleet vehicle that uses CNG/propane. With the extreme cold of this Winter, propane would be a bad choice because the price has more than doubled. For smaller cars, the choices include diesel, gas or hybrid, but buying a hybrid for my business wouldn't be feasible because of the initial cost. If I could get by with one vehicle, I'd probably buy a VW Jetta tdi- my friend has one and has joined the 800 Club- 800 miles on one tank full, which works out to just over 55 MPG and he doesn't drive like an old lady.

The other problem in Milwaukee is the fact that people seem to have gone to the Stevie Wonder School of Driving. They look at and do everything BUT what they should be.

On the lake today...25 gallons for $124.95...that's $4.99 a gallon. Going to be an expensive summer.

$4.99 a gallon is pretty high. I am in Southwest Virginia and just bought ethanol free 93 octane for $3.75 a gallon. Luckily, I have small old time gas station that sells the ethanol free, about 2 miles from my house. So, I don't have to pay the marina prices. This gas station still has a full service island.

I was in Lubbock, TX this weekend picking up my youngest daughter's stuff from Texas Tech and paid $3.18 for the trip home.
