  • DD- That thing was fun for 15 minutes. Took it off trail, flats, and trails. The ride suks. It's strictly a stand up sled, we don't even know why it has a seat other than to keep you butt off the track. It constantly "track" stands. Remember I said this...There will be TONS of them for sale soon.... We ran into at least a 1/2 dozen of them on the trails. And guess what, I think they all had about the same response."..I'll be getting rid of it soon.."

It was fun for a short period of time, lack of power made it feel like a pit bike scooter. Fun...as long its someone elses...

The sled I rode will also be for sale soon, as soon as they get done beating the snot out of it ...And it is currently owned by a diehard Yami guy. It might make a good 3rd or 4th if you have a collection and want something to throw around.
Knowing your size/weight...I'd guess you'd get tired of it real quick. Adding a supercharger or turbo will more than likely serve once purpose..To flip in over on top of the driver instead of being able to ride out the wheelie.

Apparently it burns 5 gallons on nitro-methane in a quarter mile and about 9 gallons in a typical hill climb
        Ahhhhh, that's reasonable....

            • Spent the weekend with some friends in Munising.....while they were riding, I did drove a bar stool as I have to take the year off of riding . Here's the report though....

Trail 8 was being groomed, but was down to snirt and rocks by Saturday mid-day....no base.

Friday ride from Munising toward Grand Marais ended because the snow ran-out. Ride from Munising toward Marquette on the rail grade was the same thing...ran out of snow to the west.

Generally, there are pockets of snow between the 41 and the 7, South of the 8 on the forest roads. They ranged between 3 and 12 inches in depth. Off trail riding was a bit more pressured than normal as everyone is in search of snow. Snow depths were hit and miss.

Day one was 120miles. Day two was 90 miles.

              No pics....forgot the digital cameras....bummer

Good time to buy a sled as interest is running up on dealer inventories...

              • We finally got some snow here at home. We probably have about a foot on the ground with a suprise dumping yesterday. I finally got to get the new sled out and put a few miles on it. I really love how it rides compared to my old sled. I really like that I can sit more upright instead of leaning forward to ride. Much nicer on my back. It was a slow ride though didn't really get a chance to open her up. We had my 6 year old nephew with. I think I hit about 85mph on the bike trail. It tracks so much nicer than my old sled too. We did have one casuality tough. My husbands sled blew the exhaust out, so now we have to get his ready to ride this week. I think he is going to band-aid fix it for this season and then get new exhaust over the summer.

With a little grooming and a touch of sun the trails here could be pretty descent. It was just really nice to get out!!!

Nice to hear you finally got out..I almost hate to ask at this point how you like it without studs because you didn't really ride it like you would. Was it what you expected?

                  • Studs wouldn't have really helped much yesterday, we were mostly riding in really loose powder. The longer lugs on the track were a huge improvement for me, I would sometimes have troubles in really loose powder, so I had no problems yesterday. It was an unfair test drive though, most of the time I think we were only doing 25mph maybe 30. My nephew was riding with my Dad on his sled, but my nephew was running the gas most of time and wanting to "drive". It was GREAT just to be out and the slower ride was nice for just getting a feel for the sled under my belt. It got some of the nervous jitters out of riding a new sled. There was one hill, it was really steep, Lance barely made it up with his studded track, that my Dad and I both had to turn around on because we couldn't make it up. Studs at that point would've been nice, but otherwise I didn't miss them, so far.

                    • THAT is the reason the guys I ride with are going to studs. Wanting to never have to turn around or back down. They got stuck a few times.....

                      • Like I said earlier, studs aren't out of the question, we just figured for as little as we ride we try it without first, since investing any money in sledding is becoming a waste of money and I think I've invested enough for this year with buying a new sled. I might have been able to make it up too if we were actaully riding normal. My Dad was leading and we were going pretty slow then we actually stopped on the hill. They didn't make it, started to slide back down. Lance went around them and made it up, I tried to go around them to make it up too but I couldn't get over into the snow so I had to try to go up the center where it was pure ice, no snow. I started to slide on the ice. I think if we were going at it with normal speed and hadn't stopped I would've made it up, my Dad just wanted to turn around so we did.

                        • Took the sled out for another ride last night. Still didn't get a real accurate test drive, the trails are pretty much shot around here already. They have been beat to death. The bike trail was still in alright shape and we actually met the groomer on our ride home on the bike trail. My sled saw 101mph, then I backed off. Lance said he saw 102 on mine. He rode it home to see which sled he liked better. He says his has more power and top end and mine rides and corners better. He also has a clutch kit and studs in his. I am pretty sure we'll be adding 96 studs to it this summer. I know one thing, I think I'll be needing a new helmet now, the wind hits me in the face with this sled and my visor leaks lots of air....I get ice cream headaches .

It was good just to be out. Hopefully we get some more snow soon.

DD---how are the trails coming along by you? Have you gotten any snow on them lately. How about the UP, they doing good?

                          • The UP is good if they keep the groomers out. The day we left they were hit with 15"....

I am going off the record here ....If you need a new helmet..Look at Skidoo's BV2S... They can be purchased without logos... Jus' sayin'....

                            • Is that one of the type of helmets that open all the way up and not just the visor. I don't know what they are called, we call them Darth Vadar helmets. That is the style I want, I think. I guess I'd have to try then on. I don't care much what bran it is, like you said order it with no graphics on it. I'll look into those when I'm ready. I think I'll probably wait until like Hay Days or something. At least until this season is over maybe pick one up on clearance.

                              • Good call on the clearance, FWIW- I am almost certain BigMac uses one. And I would certainly get one myself If I didn't just drop about $500.00 on mine last season. The face doesn't completely open, just where the mouthpiece is.
