do you shoot deer with a 22-250?................That would not be legal here .
yep, legal here in Texas, just has to be a centerfire (no rim fire allowed for deer). The majority of the deer in Texas are about the size of a German Shepard (does range from big being around 110 lbs or less, most are much less). I usually carry 2 rifles to the stand, the 22-250 with handloaded 63 grain BTSP for does (head/neck) & pigs and my 7mm RM for longer shots & mature bucks. I have killed dozens of deer (and likely thousands of hogs) with a 22-250 out to around 200 yards.

I know nothing about pheasant hunting ... what size shot do you use for those?

here is a good reference point to find ammo ... I just plugged in 12 gauge but you can put in additional filters (manufacturer, shot type/size, shell length, etc.) to refine your search.

I have about 10 acres to plant in oats and then another 10 or so for winter wheat later on.
we got about 0.8 of rain last night with the forecast projections pretty good with heavy rains thru the weekend. I might have gotten lucky.

it might be a soggy weekend of hunting too.

ouch, probably not worthy of stopping to pick up judging the the shape of your mirror. I had to replace one of those on my truck and was surprised just how simple it was to do.

i only wish. Mirror $1300, body damage and paint $1500 and replacement window from it slamming off the car another $480

            • yeah, sounds like a LOT more than just mirror replacement.

                • Picked up a brick of 12ga waterfowl loads. The wait is on, but season is predicted to be less than stellar.

                  • didn't see anything mature enough on deer. I did take out 2 hogs with 1 bullet Monday evening, just had to be patient enough to get them lined up. Seeing some promising bucks on cameras but most are feeding around 3:00-5:00 am to beat the heat.

Nothing good on my cameras yet. Ours are still not hitting the feeders like usually. Still lots to eat out there. Hopefully it will get colder sooner this year to get them moving. Lots of pigs and turkey though.

                      • It's been too hot here since our season opened oct 1. Weather has finally changed. Plan to get out for the first time this Saturday.

                        • There's a pretty good cool front pushing thru sometime Friday dropping our lows down into the mid 40s for the weekend, highs in the lower 70s. I'll be heading back out during the day on Friday to top off feeders (ouch at $8.75 per 50 lb bag times 7 feeders on this ranch) and then sit until dark, then all day Sat. & till around noon on Sunday.

                              • Wish I could hunt behind my house. Cold front is working. This was out this evening well before dark.
