WM provided many a start of the ski season buzz and launched an entire industry of new skool action sports film makers. He was also on the snow himself well into his 80’s and 90’s.
RIP, though I suspect there are unlimited virgin turns where you are at. Your energy and adrenaline live on.
Nice call-out to a great man, Covi.

Years ago while working at a western mountain restort a lady approaches me with a small girl approx. 4-5 yo. She says to me "I'd like you to take good care of her". "Teach her how to ski and to ski well". "We have high expectations for her". "This is Danielle, I'm her grandmother and her grandfather is Warren Miller".
We had a great day.86' 19 Skier, 351 PCM (sold)

C, so you taught WM’s grand daughter to ski? Now that is legendary.
IIRC, Blizzard of Aahhs was Stump films, but they were absolutely one of the many disciples of WM along with many other next generation adrenaline film makers including TGR and dozens of others.
Plake is still ripping, and also is an incredibly strong water skier. Scot Schmidt is an owner of one of the best powder cat operations on the planet - Island Lake Lodge. Both athletes were shredding big mountain lines and back country powder on 210cm skinny skiis.

I love this quote from WM: “If you don't do it this year, you will be one year older when you do.”
My ski buddies and I leave in a few weeks for a week in interior BC. For the first time ever, we'll be doing a day with Valhalla PowderCats. It took some arm twisting to get everyone to commit. I mean, yes you could purchase a new pair of skis for what we're spending on one single day. But, I think it's going to be a new level of fun. Why not this year?
This will be our 15th annual "guys ski trip." We accomplished our goal...we made it to a place where it's not a negotiable event with our wives. It's an annual occurrence. We had that discussion, the very first year of the trip in Park City.
Pursue life...don't procrastinate.
RIP WM.

Growing up in Salt Lake City we never missed his films at Highland High School. He was always sitting at the side of the stage while the movie played. I have a signed copy of his book, Wine, Women and Skis from the early ‘70’s.
He grabbed some boys out of a local bar in Idaho because he liked their sound. Warren asked them to put a song together for his next production. Reckless Kelly - they were in awe that Warren asked them to put a song together as they loved his films as all skiers and riders typically do. Song is called Snowfall.
For certain, a life well lived.Screws fall out all the time, the world is an imperfect place.

Although I was never a huge fan of WM films because they were primarily skiers and I was a teenager in my “can’t stand skiers b/c I’m a snowboarder” phase, I could still easily appreciate what Warren did for snow sports in general. I’m sure I could sit down and watch them now and thoroughly enjoy them. IIRC, he did allow an occasional sideways snow rider onto his films! A true legend. RIP.

He was great at what he did...going back in time some, Warren Miller narrating in person one of his movies at the State Theater in Kalamazoo Michigan on stage was one of the best...will be truly missed. Passing his enthusiasm to the next generation lives on through Warren films and greatly appreciated by any snow sport enthusiast. Deepest condolences to Warrens family...loved by allLast edited by Fullpass; 01-25-2018, 06:44 PM.
