We used to start every winter with a Warren Miller film, and to be honest his movies are probably what made me want to really learn how to ski in the backcountry, away from the lifts, and take a few risks. He was absolutely an icon, not just for the movies that he made, but for his overall philosophy of life. RIP Warren.

I used to love going to his movies to get stoked for upcoming ski season. Always liked his narration and I loved his quirky sense of humour.
Earlier in the thread someone mentioned The Blizzard of Ahs. That was a Greg Stump film, but Warren Miller created the genre. Thanks for that!

RIP Warren, it is just amazing how a film maker can capture, share, and get people to appreciate the nuanced love that we feel for our skiing, riding sports. Not everyone gets it .... but anyone that has ever seen a WM film is likely to click in and try it.
A great story teller.

He was the father. I wasn't a huge fan of the recent stuff, but I honor his memory by watching some of the greats that learned from and came after him. While not WM films, JP Auclair's (RIP) street scene from All.I.Can is one of my favorites, as well as the whole Valhalla movie from Sweetgrass Productions. My daughter and I watch it 3 or 4 times every fall after the boat is put away to get psych'd for the upcoming winter. When it rips into "Dear Mr. Fantasy" at the opening of the movie you can feel the powder down your shirt.

My uncles and I would see the Warren Miller movies at the Bushnell Theater in CT every year. Fond memories. Such a great narrative and voice that Warren had. He will be missed but his legacy will certain live on!

We had a great day.

Sad day. Cheers, Warren!
And remember kids, if you don't do it this year, you will be one year older when you do.

He was great at what he did...going back in time some, Warren Miller narrating in person one of his movies at the State Theater in Kalamazoo Michigan on stage was one of the best...will be truly missed. Passing his enthusiasm to the next generation lives on through Warren films and greatly appreciated by any snow sport enthusiast. Deepest condolences to Warrens family...loved by allLast edited by Fullpass; 01-25-2018, 06:44 PM.
