I've heard of stock tanks cracking and I've seen a stock tank bulge an alarming amount . Is this normal???

I just acquired an 02' Xstar with a predator 310 TBI. pre purchase water test was perfect. temps were great the engine time. Took her home, put her in the lake and got an overheat within about 10 minutes.

got back to the dock, pulled the impeller and it has disintegrated...

Had a new to me X45 in the water for the first time over the weekend. When I did the sea-trial before purchase it ran great....maybe a little lumpy on idle....but much like the big blocks I've heard over the years. Over the weekend the idle was rough. Once on throttle it smoothed out and ran strong....
