  • IMO it makes more sense to rip out the side mounted hard tanks and just install a big soft bag. You gain storage space when not in use and no complicated setup to worry about. Piggybacking is more for underfloor tanks where they are difficult if not impossible to remove.

They can if they have the titles, which I don't think they do. I think the titles are currently owned by the banks now suing them. Not sure what shenanigans are going on that allowed them to sell the boats and not pay the banks. Did they tell the buyers the titles will be mailed at a later date?...

I'm guessing he meant Mastercraft as a whole for skiing. Great for competitive skiing, not so great for family/casual skiing as compared to the older models and other brands of the time. 197 and 214 had a decent bump at 15 and 22 off. 209 was worse than the 205 before it. The 2014 Prostar was where...

Friend has a 97 205, I don't care much for it either. 32 mph 15 off. The 2000 190 I had and another friend's 2004 Sunsetter LXi were better ski boats. The 190 was smaller and about the same hardness, the Sunsetter was about the same size but softer. Now have a 2004 Response LXi which is really spoiling...

Agreed here. 2000s era Mastercraft were not family friendly for slalom in general. Needed to be skiing at 34+ mph at short line lengths to get the best slalom wakes.

The go-to family friendly slalom-focused boat is the 2004 and older Sunsetter LXi. The 2001-2004 Sunsetter VLX/Sunscape 21...

A lot in common.... for clarification, they all have the same hull (as long as you're looking at the correct generations). The only major differences are in the top deck for the 2000 model, towers, and engines.

The late 90s/early 2000s Maristar 210 and X10 was more friendly for slalom skiing...

Weekend of the 20th it's looking like. This weekend is getting some very cold rain down in the 60s, which is kinda wack as midweek is hitting 80+.

  • Nope. X30 used the 2nd gen until 2004, gaining the 3rd gen in 05. X45 was introduced with the 3rd gen in 2005. The 2nd gen tower had two styles- one with two sets of tubes on the side and one with a tube up top and plate on the bottom. The two tubes version was used essentially only in 2001 and the...

  • The 2nd gen X-Star always had that style of tower; it was the debut boat for it. That style of tower trickled to the other boats in the lineup in subsequent years....

I used a 12v solar circulation pump which was way cheaper than the Wye (about $20 or so). I believe the inlet of the heater was from the top of the block near the thermostat and outlet was into the circulation pump. This had the benefit of being able to run the heater even when the engine was off as...

We did our 2001 X-Star with Gatorstep. Cut along the seat edges with a razor and also used a razor to scrape the glue off the deck. We didn't refinish the deck or anything, just a lot of time with the razor and stuff to loosen up the glue. It was smooth enough and there weren't any noticeable defects...

    Get good

Or buy one of those fancy new trucks with trailer assist. A Quadrasteer truck/SUV would also be easier to maneuver.

1260 acre lake in California. The lake isn't very wide, with the majority of it being less than 1000 feet wide. Winds on the lake reach 20 mph at most during the summer (been getting windier lately). Combined with being surrounded by hills means the waves don't get a chance to grow very big while the...

Just got a Jeep Gladiator as a rental, it's surprisingly quiet despite its seeming lack of insulation. Primary complaint is that it tends to wander on the freeway, steering isn't as tight as I would like to have it.

Another +1 for the Ranger out of those options because I think Toyota is...

On our lake, no boat has sunk from waves caused by wind. At least one boat a year sinks from waves caused by surfers. Just like this bill, your one size fits all approach does not work....

In that case, I would wire it to a switched ignition source in the fusebox and not connect it to an internal cab switch. You shouldn't need a reason to turn off that circuit manually; it should always be on when plugged in. The fuse taps available all over Amazon should make wiring that up relatively...

Works well for getting trailers into tight spaces. Even then, it still helps to have a person on the outside to help guide. You do lose the side mirrors' ability to see the fenders which might make lining up a little more difficult without a spotter.

I would recommend a Quadasteer truck...
