Since my cars are never under water, I will only chase the threads to clean off any corrosion prior to torquing them. Since the boat trailer gets dunked on a regular basis, I'll chase the threads on the lugs if they look bad, replace the lug nuts if they're rusty, then apply a tiny amount of Never-Seize....Last edited by Miss Rita; 06-28-2022, 08:23 AM.

Do you have a source that says this? My sources say that heat and sunlight speed up degradation of rubber externally, and pressurized oxygen on the inside speeds up the oxidation/degradation of rubber internally...

I installed UFP DB35 disk brakes on my trailer 5 years ago. They worked great, but the organic pads that came with them left a terrible mess on the wheels. One year later I replaced the organic pads with ceramic (#DG766) from AutoZone (two pairs for $43) I'm pretty sure they cross reference to a 2002...Last edited by Miss Rita; 06-25-2022, 04:21 PM.

I would rebuild the original screw holes in the teak as mentioned. Then, for extra assurance, I would put a brass or stainless countersunk machine screw in each corner for the security that through-bolting would provide....
