    WTB: ProStar 190 trailer

I have a 1991 Prostar 190 and it has come down to refurbishing the trailer or looking for a good deal on a used one. Just starting the hunt and not sure how hard this hunt is. Issue with the old trailer is my buddy, whom I bought the boat from, left the trailer at his Florida house while the boat stayed at the TN lake house. That said, the trailer is somewhat rusted in places and I'm not sure I should even sink any money into refurbishing it.

If you know of or see any deals on a 190 trailer, please let me know. Thank you.

Good luck with it...finding a used one! I have increased your odds however; I am ordering a brand new trailer for my '92...this should cause a market flood of used trailers in EXCELLENT shape to hit the market!

The trailer that I have currently needs someone with some time and skills to get it back in shape as well...I will probably sell it cheap or part it out once the new one arrives in a few weeks...I had considered using it another season maybe 2, I only have to make short hauls to the lake (less than 10 miles)...The wife has her eye on going to some lakes further away several times this year, figured we might as well go ahead and take the plunge.

Good luck with your search though!

Who did you go with for the new one if you don't mind me asking. Did you go dual or single axle and do you mind tell me cost? I haul the boat around a lot and up to 400 miles round trip from time to time so a new one might be the way to go. I just know I am going to hate the cost.

When I did brakes, tires. and wheels on my 93 trailer I considered buying a new trailer and the price was not much different if I had to repaint it also. I stayed with my trailer because it is galvanized and it is hard to find a trailer that would hold the boat as low as the stock trailer, according to my local trailer dealer. If the trailer you are considering refurbing is in Florida and has been in salt water and it is not galvanized, you are probably better off with a new one or better used on. Salt water causes many problems with the painted trailers. My galvanized trailer is holding up very well.
