I'd like to raise the teak deck on my boat about 3 or 4 inches. It sits really low. At zero extra weight in the boat, it's already in inch below the water. When it's weighted out (~2600lbs of ballast, plus people), it's damn near knee deep!

I can deal with putting my board on underwater, but what really bugs me is that it drags through the water when we're surfing and mucks up the wake. I've got the weight dialed in, but it would be so much cleaner without the drag.

Ideally, I'd like to just redo the whole thing and change the shape on the corners so it's angled off more and rounded out, but at the very least raise it out of the water so it doesn't drag as much, and so riders aren't getting into their boards underwater.

Interestingly enough, I've got a buddy with the same hull ('03 X2? I'm not sure about the year), and his deck is significantly higher than mine. So MC must have noticed it and fixed it at some point.

My thoughts would be to raise it to where the hull changes color on the transom. I think that would look best. Any thoughts of how to do this with the existing platform?

Thanks, and Merry Christmas!

That does look really low. My 96 is mounted like you said, just below the color change

They changed the brackets at some point. I'm not sure it's just the 205v that has the shorter ones or if it's in later years that they started using the longer ones. You should be able to order a set of x-1 platform brackets to fix you up. For reference, my brackets are 9.5" high. Yours are probably only about 5" or so.

This thread has some good info.

Thanks, JR! Brackets should do the trick. That thread had some great info. Namely, the site. Some of those parts might come in handy for my 3 piece sun deck conversion, as well. I had already found a place to get some gas shocks, but not the brackets that go with them.

Here is a picture of the level of my platform and where it sits in the water on my '99 205. I suppose that yours would sit lower in the water though due to the added weight of the engine in the rear since mine is a direct drive.

Nice looking boat, russ! That looks to be about the same level mine is mounted. I think the fiberglass platform looks better than the teak. I may have to upgrade at some point.

On my 2000 205V the platform was about 6 inches underwater when I would load it up. The 2000 era X star has the higher brackets. Id call a local dealer and see if you can get an x-1 platform bracket.

Looks like my '01 is about where you're talking about. I wonder if the previous owner put taller brackets on or if it came this way.
