Ford killed it again!!!

Cool that some models come with stock 35s.

ChadH 07-13-2020 11:16 PM

We are getting ready to trade off my wife's 2016 Explorer and I have been trying to gently persuade her to get a new Bronco rather than another Explorer. Nothing against Explorers, this one has been great, 120,000 trouble free miles out of our Sport, 3.5 EcoBoost. I think these Bronco's will be cool, besides her dad has a sweet restored 73' Bronco that would make it that much cooler!

ValveCoverGasket 07-14-2020 12:29 AM

Just watched some of the YouTube highlight videos, really impressive!
This is what the new Defender should have been... Looks to b really well done. They made a better Wrangler haha

RxMC 07-14-2020 01:35 AM

That’s not a Bronco. Bronco’s only have two doors.

They are offering a 2 door model as well. Also remember the f150 only had 2 doors back then too.

CruisinGA 07-14-2020 07:04 AM

Looks great.

Now if only Toyota would do another real Land Cruiser

I've never been a Ford guy, but I agree completely!

bturner2 07-14-2020 07:41 AM

Do they have a tow rating on it yet? I just bought a Tahoe so I'm out for at least another 3 years but I agree with Aric, they killed it on this one. They're going to be running behind on orders for quite some time.....

I was wondering the same. Base motor is the same as the Explorer and thatís rated for somewhere around 5k and that is also the same motor in the Ranger that is rated around 7k. Looks like you can step up and get the 2.7 eco and probably have even more tow capacity

ST explorer is 5600 pounds now, base explorer is 5000 (I think). I can tow my X2 with the ST. I did a test drive pulling the boat, and I thought it did better than my 5.0L f150, both power and stopping. It wasn't windy and it was a short drive, so I couldn't really evaluate side stability. I'm sure my truck wins there, but I was amazed at how well the explorer did. Not sure if they'll give the bronco the 3.0 EB or not and what the wheel base will be.

Damn, that's cool!

Wheelin98TJ 07-14-2020 09:38 AM

Some really cool options.

4.70 gears
Lockers front and rear
Bilstein shocks
Front sway bar disconnect

One of the videos mentioned 3500lb for both 2 and 4 door. But I'd take that with a grain of salt.. though it may not be far off of this thing has some more off road oriented suspension, and looks to be pretty short over all.

jgraham37128 07-14-2020 10:07 AM

Why no V8 option?.... That's American...

epnault 07-14-2020 10:42 AM

Looks cool but I thought they would launch it in a full size, versus what looks more like the Bronco II size built off the Ranger chassis. Ford entry to compete in the Jeep Wrangler segment?

Pretty sure this was a Jeep killer.

Now you build a new excursion, I will buy that also. Lol

Specification for towing on their website shows 3500# for all models, all configurations. I suspect specs are still in flux. Seems low

Game changer! Haha

Doubt its a Jeep Killer…but I do wonder if it will be made of aluminum…really not liking the looks of it really...

drydog131 07-14-2020 09:52 PM

I agree with everything that has been said. The new Bronco looks awesome and this is coming from someone who has a Wrangler JKU as a play vehicle. Two things I wish they would do is one the tow rating being a little higher on the 4 door and allowing you to get the manual in the 2.7. I know I am in the minority with the manual and very few people would/will opt for it. Anyways thing looks bada$$ and I will look hard at one when they come out.

I do like the look of the 2 door. They do look a little different than my 66 did. Open Roadster came with door inserts and cloth doors. Loved that Bronco.:)

maxpower220 07-15-2020 10:22 PM

I have a Gladiator, now if they just do a Full Size Bronco SUT.

GiantDO@X35 07-15-2020 10:59 PM

It will be hard for me to resist the 4 door with the 2.7L Ecoboost. Off-road utility and livable as a daily driver, masculine as well - nice package [emoji403] [emoji459][emoji459]

The above is sooooo true. GM threw away a chance to join in on the Wrangler success but instead decided to make yet another overpriced and slow selling crossover SUV. It is a nice car but they once again read the market wrong while Ford hit it on the money with the new Bronco.

bturner2 07-16-2020 11:29 AM

On the tow rating..... I had a CJ5 with the inline 6 and pulled a 3500 lb Sea Ray that sat on a 900 lb trailer. It was always a thrilling adventure and unsafe at practically any speed. It hopped, bounced and barely could stop even with well maintained brakes on the trailer. Steering corrections had to be strategically made between the hops to be effective.

The problem with towing with the Jeep had nothing to do with power, it had plenty of torque to do the job. The problems were primarily due to the short wheel base, tiny brakes and the light weight (2700 lbs.) of the vehicle. That Sea Ray basically tossed the Jeep all over the road whenever it felt like it. I see similar problems towing with these new Broncos but nothing nearly as bad as my beloved CJ5. The 2 door specifically will have a very short wheel base and is estimated to weigh about 4000 lbs. Don't count on a package like that to pull anything more that it's own weight comfortably/safely.

late to this post...been of the grid for a minute.

We also got in line for a Bronco "BadLands" last week.
I actually think we want a "Outerbanks" as we dont offroad as much as Mall Crawl...
this will replace our 2017 4-Runner TRD OR.
since toyotas still a few years out on anything new.. gonna sell the TRD while it still has rretained value.

Liking this new Bronco more and more though. :)

We went big bend. Fiance was begging for a wrangler forever, but the second we saw this I said yep... you get the bronco. Lol. We had our reservation in by 8 pm on launch night. Really hoping we can get it by June.

JohnE 09-13-2020 03:01 PM

I like the new Bronco too. I won't get in line, but I could buy one when available. Especially since I don't need a tow vehicle right now.

We are boatless , a good thing, since Havasu is full on new boat owners and random Political "parades"
Labor Day looked like the scene in Jaws when the whole town went out in their boats to hunt for the Shark

We are working around 50% under the radar With Casinos and Churches. ...better than most in our industry.::
