From a wattage standpoint, the nvx xad41 is out as it will only deliver 100W rms to each of your speakers. Thats a 100+ reduction.

The JL M800/8 is 200W rms with all 8 chnls at a 2 ohm load. So...

Purely from a wattage standpoint, the current nvx is going to deliver the same wattage as the JL M800/8 or MV600/2. So if the nvx is working as it should, you will not gain in volume.

An amp like...

Address the pinched wire and see if the unwanted noise goes away, then go from there. My gut says the noise will still be there, why? The 2 speakers on that side are wired as one, so to speak, as...

Wattage wise, that nvx will deliver 210W rms to each speaker. So build quality aside, there is no advantage to the wattage of either JL amp mentioned here.

If the conductors are shorted, it...

You would not be able to wire the coils in parallel (2 ohm) and run it bridged. You can wire it series (8 ohm), but its only 300W to the woofer.

So, keep the amp and go with the different woofer...

I think you already have them. IIRC, they are M770, which was the higher end 7.7 with the 1" tweeter.

So you can add wattage or add more speakers, if you want to retain the factory pods.
