How do the 1/8" products compare to the 1" foam for sound absorption? The Amazon product Waterlogged linked is around $65 and McMaster 1" is $130. How much is needed?

I think you will struggle with that style pump. I would recommend a vacuum pump similar to a MityVac (fluid extractor). It is more money, but far more useful.
