Could you mix up some fiberglass epoxy with a color matching resin? I know several colors are available. Then you could sand to your liking and buff to finish.

Well it has been a while so I should update things here... We finally had a great summer with this boat. After going through the ZF 63IV 2 separate times I finally decided to bite the bullet and buy a brand new ZF 68IV and install it along with a new damper plate. Just had too many problems with...10 Photos

Wow! Truly a boat to enjoy now. Super happy you are finally able to get some good time on it this past summer!

You should have a large power and large ground wires at the alternator. Need to verify the voltage drop from each to the corresponding battery terminal (with key off) and should be less than 1.0 volt. Then you need to verify ignition power with key on (at the small terminal). This should be very...

That really looks great! Ditto to PSGwake, you can spend as much time as you want and get it better and better however a couple times out with kids and friends and it will probably get dinged up again! Way to go.

I think your budget is low, parts are very expensive. Not sure what trabsmission it has but i would reccomend an exchange especially if it is a hurth/zf 63 iv. Lots of special tools and equipment required and likely will need bearings and shafts from corrosion. Those need machine work... Engine...

Make sure that you do not loose ignition power while cranking. First check the I terminal on the ignition switch for 12V+ then go back to the ignition and check for power at the ignition coil.

Could also be the harmonic damper coming apart on the front of the engine (the lowest drive pulley for the belts).

My bad, i forgot these are the same transmissions. Anyway, i just rebuilt mine so let me know if you have any specific questions on that trans.

On the zf 63 iv it is a solid shaft and direct coupler to the damper plate, so that would not be turned by hand. On that model, you could easily unbolt the trans from the engine as long as the rear (facing the trans) is jacked up. When you have the trans out, you can inspect the damper.

If you have spongy spots under the gelcoat, that could be due to air bubbles from the hull layup at the factory. If air bubbles and not delamination; you could inject the void with either a "panel-bond" type epoxy or a resin (fiberglass). Unfortunately, you need to drill a small hole at...
