  • Wow congrats, great boat! I have a 2001 X30, although I only have 1 battery in the starboard locker. I left the hard tank in the starboard side, and added a wakemakers 910lb bag in the port side. We are mostly all regular surfers except my 10 year old, who doesn't need the extra ballast on that side....

  • I may have pulled my boat out of a garage once with the rear hatches open which resulted in me finding new lift supports. I found new ones at liftsupportsdepot.com. You measure the compressed length and the extended length, and then can see the different "strength" options measured in newtons...

  • My transducer on my 2001 X-30 is mounted inside the boat on the bottom of the hull. It came loose on its own so the depth is not accurate, but I am planning to clean it up and re-attach with transducer epoxy. ...

replied to Ford 2.7 eco towing
I can tell you I wouldn't want anything less than my 3.5 eco for pulling my ~6k lb X-30 through the mountains of Colorado. I felt I was using max power up a few of those hills, and gas mileage while towing drops really bad above 65 mph which I imagine would be exaggerated in a 2.5 eco. Would probably...

replied to Strongest cleaner for white hull
Reviving this old thread a year later as I tried a few things and am making progress on getting the hull white again. I tried collinite compound last year, and then Starbrite hull cleaner, but it was no match for the heavy yellow discoloration on the lower half of of the boat. At the end of this season,...

Yes, great point that if it gets power when the key turns on it def should be wrapped. I winterized last Saturday and removed the battery, so I think I will just go with the safe answer and wrap....

Mystery Wire - would love help!

Winterizing my boat I found this skinny orange wired pictured that is not attached to anything. It looks like it travels with a larger batch of wires from the driver's control panel. I can't tell where it plugs in? The boat is currently functioning properly.

    Maybe someone with a similar...

    replied to Intake Water Strainer
I've always been worried about mine breaking as I remove the intake hose from the engine compartment to start the engine out of water - it worries me that the piece is plastic. However I have a 2001 with the original piece so doesn't seem like a common issue. The strainer is partially blocked by the...

replied to Looking at buying an Air chair/Sky Ski
Want to throw it out there to make sure you have considered a wakefoil before you jump into the air chair world. We had an air chair growing up (90s) and that thing was unforgiveable and every crash was painful since you were strapped in and would take the water flat on your chest/face area every time....

  • Just last year I was in the same situation: ready to upgrade from a 1990 19 foot Glastron to an inboard. I bought a 2001 X-30 with 330 hours for 27.5k. Although the X-30 is only 11 years newer, it feels 30 years newer and has been amazing for our family. I primarily boat with my wife and 3 teenagers...

@eecyclone Yes I'm a big fan of Carter and ran the slalom course a few years ago - Since then my friend bought a lakehouse on a different lake and graciously invites me multiple times per week in the am!

So now I am guilty of bringing the family to Carter and making some waves as we surf,...

  • Agree with adding another ballast bag. Trying to move from one side to the other would require completely draining one side, and you will be happier having more weight. Wakemakers.com is where I bought all my ballast, tubes, pumps, etc. They had a standard kit for an expansion, but they also sell...

  • Excellent, thanks! My depth finder only seemed to work intermittently and apparently that's because it's been loose!...
