I know exactly what your talking about. Purple is key on 12v source to coil. The previous owner also had the choke connected to the +coil side. This is not the best method... in fact, Quick Fuel states do not do this. I then used the orange wire from the old ballist resistor, which is also 12v with...

I actually purchased the stock metal hard line before I bought this carb, then realized it would not work. Rubber had to be used....

Agreed. Sometimes we take new parts for granted and say "well that is new so there's no way it can be bad". Mine was bad....

Nice dash. I recently installed that same Faria GPS gauge. I have not tested it or verified its accuracy as of yet. How do you like it? Has it stayed accurate?...

So, I've been on vacation and busy with work, but have been working on the boat off and on. If I can give one l piece of advice: USE ADJUSTABLE ROLLER ROCKERS. The issue is, the bolt size for the rockers is 5/16. Unfortunately, they don't make adjustable roller rockers (only pedestal mount, which are...

My Prestolite is functioning fine... it's just that everything on this engine is new (even the lower end)... except the distributor.....

Thanks. I almost bought a new distributor and probably should have for all the money I've spent on this engine upgrade. But I decided to buy just the module. You make very solid points. I try to repair things that may leave me stranded on the water in hopes of preventing that. I still might buy a new...

UPDATE: So after several hours of working on this engine... it was time to fire her up. I did a final check of all the fuel lines, wires etc. Turn the key, and the engine just cranks and cranks... doesn't even attempt to fire. Check fuel pressure, good. Check spark, no spark. Prior to trying to start...

I agree. I bought so many parts... that when I was putting the engine back together, I remembered that I forgot to buy new head and intake bolts. I plan on getting some black paint to touch up the bolts with a small paint brush....

Topped off the GT40P heads with a nice set of valve covers. (Had to remove oil baffles to make room for the rockers). These valve covers aren't considered "tall" and still were tall enough to accommodate the higher lift cam and roller rockers. Very nice quality set....1 Photo
