Boat US increasing premium 70% !!!

After numerous recommendations and feedback from this forum I moved my boat policy to Boat US 2 years ago.

This year, which would be my 3rd policy year they are wanting to increase my premium over 70%.

I have had no claims, made no changes to coverage, and actually added...

  • Update: It was installed new at the marina (same slip) in Aug 2014, so almost 4 years old.

I will prob and see if he'll come off price some, but otherwise seems reasonable.

  • Approx price for Hydra Hoist 6600lb

    Sorry, HydoHoist, not Hydra Hoist.

I have the opportunity move my boat from dry stack storage to a wet slip with a floating lift. I'm trying to find out more of the particulars regarding the lift but it appears to be a + or - 5 year old 6600lb HydroHoist lift. Owner is asking $4k....

    replied to Bow Light Wiring???
I had my mechanic handle it, as I had them working on a few other things.

I don't remember what exactly the solution was, but I remember him saying it was a pain in the ***, and that the wiring was extremely tight.

For some reason I think he just spliced a new wire from behind...

So how are you avoiding the X1 decal, did you remove or modify? I've been placing mine in the hull step below the decal as far back as possible. That damn decal really get's in the way, but I'm afraid of what it would look like if I remove it.

I have a similar setup, 600lb bags in v drive lockers, KGB ballast bag, and usually fill 2 x 250's in bow walk way. I have 2 homemade suck gates, and a nauticurl. The nauticurl has worked best of the suck gates. I almost never fill the v drive bags to full capacity for 2 reasons 1) boat tends to...

  • I know the family who owns the dock and MC. Their dock sits on a point in a severe bend in the TN River channel on Ft Loudon. Most people cut close to their dock anyway due to it being the shortest distance around the bend. For those familiar it's directly across from Cove Park/Concord Yacht Club....

  • New OJ 848 prop worked out very well. Much better hole shot and smoothness at lower speeds. No vibration and am relieved that there doesn't seem to be problem with alignment.

Found source of leak, cracked check valve on bow ballast bag fill line. Valve is directly under engine and is...

replied to Replacing my Prop help
I second the OJ Props recommendation. Damaged my prop recently and was fortunate to have OJ 20 miles away. Eric upgraded me to a OJ 848 15 x 14, which has worked out great, they're good people. They're reworking my old prop for free.

    replied to 2016 Navigator L
Absolutely love my my 2016 F150 w/ 3.5L ecoboost. The engine keeps getting better with break in.

IMO the 3.5L tows better than the Navigator V8.

The more evenly distributed weight on the Navigator helped when braking, but otherwise F150 handled the weight well.

  • I think you're correct about this.

When I had the boat dropped into water from dry storage, I immediately jumped in boat and started looking/listening in the engine bilge area. It seemed to me that I was taking on water from somewhere in that area, but couldn't pin point it.

  • After further discussion with the marina manager that pulled my boat out of water, there was a chunk of wood still lodged into the prop.

The prop damage is barely noticeable.

I'm assuming the vibration from the wood chunked prop is what affected my seal.

    After...
