Swivel latch on 1988 Tristar. Mine almost worn out. Does anyone know where I can get a couple of these?

The dipstick is routed up the front left side of the engine. That’s how it was when I bought the boat....

The dipstick plug is what it turned out to be. I ran it for about five years with that plug that came with the new block and I guess pressure or something pushed the plug out.
I fixed it by putting an 1/8” pipe plug in last week....

I figured out my cold start problem. I read about it on a hot rod forum and ended up putting a Carter check valve about one foot below the mechanical fuel pump to prevent the fuel in the line from leaking back down into the tank.

It has a Pertronix Flamethrower II electronic ignition with an Edelbrock Performer intake and a 2 inch spacer. The carb has the jets, power valve, etc that came in it new from Holley last May.
It runs perfect in every other parameter except a cold soaked start.

The choke works, the choke blade goes all...

Mystery Oil Leak
I’ve got a 1988 Tristar 190. The engine has less than 200 hours on it and I noticed back in the summer after skiing, when I lift the engine cover, there was a little oil on the left engine bay LH engine bay. I looked hard and I can’t figure out where it’s coming from.
The LH two...

Make sure your electric choke is opening up when the engine warms up. A bad choke sticking closed can cause this

The Tie Actuator 66 has a solenoid on the back of the reservoir that assists the surge brake. I figured out my problem though. I accidentally pulled the emergency brake cable that hooks to the tow hitch. If it gets pulled too far, it locks and keeps the brakes on all the time. There’s a swaged ball...
