  • I’ve just finished this on my 04 X30. Bought the ARE hammer puller after an entire day trying to break the shaft free from the coupler. It was a godsend, the shaft came loose after three hits and 5 seconds. The same tool can be used to replace the strut bearings too. I put a dripless shaft gland...

  • ^^^^^ I did this 3 years ago, pulled the manifolds and took to a welding shop. I think there are 9 total on each manifold? Five on the outside facing away from the engine and 4 facing in. I used a paper gasket from skidim in lieu of a liquid gasket. Painted them with black paint. No problems in 3 years...

  • I had to have my manifolds repaired three years ago and ended up using a gasket. No problems since. I too thought the RTV was a gooey mess while trying to handle the manifold. If you decide to use RTV I’ve seen someone use extra bolts with the heads cut off to line the manifold up for installing...

  • You're exactly right, I took another like earlier today and there is no way a regular puller will fit. The 1/2 plate with a bolt would also be very tight. I went ahead and bit the bullet and bought the A.R.E. Drive shaft/strut bearing puller from SKIDIM. I think I will probably use and sell it. ...

  • Stuck

No luck on pressing the prop shaft out. A piece of 1/4 steel is bending I used. Any recommendations on a puller with enough clearance to work? Kind of at a loss right now. Not really interested in buying the $100 prop shaft puller....

  • The new one they have advertises no water needed. I shot Eric an email to find out. Planning on going by Mon to get the gland and strut bearing.

I appreciate the offer for help! You’re just down the road. I’m off of Pellissippi in West KNOXVILLE.

    I think I have a...

  • Thank you for the input. I’ve actually already met Eric at OJ. Great guy. I bought prop from him last year. From what I’ve seen the dripless systems require water but OJ has a new dripless no water?

It is just so hard to access the gland and the jam nut is not just tight, it is almost...

    Help! Packing gland problems.

I have a 2004 x30. I purchased the boat two years ago and I’ve always had a lot of water in the bilge. I've been taking care of some more pressing projects up until now. I decided to address the packing so I can reduce the water in the bilge. I bought some GFO packing and was able to loosen the...

  • Custom WakeMakers KGB Ski Locker Bag

I've got an extra new in box KGB replacement bag, custom fit for the ski locker from Wakemakers. I put in a warranty claim for mine that leaked. It took so long to get a replacement over the summer I just patched mine and it seems to have held, just gonna roll the dice and keep it and sell the replacement...

  • I bought my 04X30 1.5 years ago with an MCX engine. It had 600 hours on the boat and the manifolds were leaking. From my research on here and talking to other members that have the same issue, the areas are actually casting plugs. The metal used to seal the areas are designed to fail first. The problem...

  • Have no fear, I had a similar scenario happen approximately 2 months ago. My daughter wrote her name on a ziplock bag in Sharpie. She ate the snack and left it on the seat. you can guess what name then transferred onto the vinyl.

I tried it all with limited success. Mine looked just...

  • Glad to hear it's running! Nothing more satisfying than finding the problem. I've been following this thread closely as I also have a 2004 X-30 with an MCX. I just redid my ballast in the spring and made shelves based on your prior posts!

I replaced my Ignition Coil as a preventative...

replied to New to me 2004 X30!!
Thanks! It's been a labor of love and a few &%$%! words. A learning experience for sure. My X30 came wired with ballast pumps already plumbed in. The original system had a manifold with a large 1 1/2 inch inlet. The original manifold fed the 3 pumps that reduced to 3/4 inch lines. If you want...

    Heater Circulation Pump

I’m currently repairing the heater in my 04 x30. I found a replacement core from a late 70s F150 that fits and everything is ready to go. From what I’ve read the idle heat is lacking and a lot of folks like the raw water wye for improved performance.

    I have two questions...
