Bellinghamster - I like your idea of a reference point. I’ll give that a go. I dropped the shaft again and pulled the coupling off. Then i fit it back to the transmission coupling without the shaft. Everything is tight to less than .002” so I’m ruling out a warped coupling on either side. Another...

My cover has the same issue underneath. Does anyone have a good method for cleaning these? Chemical or technique recommendations?

Does anyone have a theory why the two couplings fit in one orientation and when the transmission coupling is rotated but don’t align when the shaft is rotated?

Thanks for the response. I’ll bang my head against the wall a little more and try the alignment again.

Any comments on my strut? It looks pretty good to me but it’s kinda the last thing via process of elimination.

Update: so I just dropped the shaft again and checked in order to check if the shaft coupling and transmission coupling are straight. They are, as evidenced by a 0.002” tight fit all the way around in any orientation. So the question is - what is throwing off my shaft coupling when spinning it given...

Waterlogged I appreciate you taking the time to write a thoughtful and helpful response. First to answer a couple of questions you alluded to or facts I failed to mention:
1) This is a 1999 Prostar 205V.
2) I did replace both strut bearings and used a split water hose to bring the...

Engine alignment and shake
I am having a really tough time determining if my engine/prop shaft are shaking too much. I have tested the shaft was bent slightly so sent it to Ron of skiboatpartsonline to straighten it. I also replaced the strut bearing before replacing the shaft. I was able to align the engine to get the prop shaft...

@MLA - thanks. As I’m looking now at options that’s what I’m seeing as well. Anything else you would recommend I look out for when purchasing a head unit and speaker set up?

Thanks MLA. Why not a 4 channel? Typically not powerful enough to drive 7 speakers?
Budget is not fixed. No tower so no tower speakers.

Which channel amp?
Starting from scratch. Need a completely new system for a prostar 205v. Looking at 6 speakers (2 bow, 2mid, and 2 aft) and one sub under driver kick panel. What is everyone’s recommendation on amp to power? 5 or 6 channel? Upon a brief search of stereo equipment I was thinking about going with fusion...

No ticking noise on mine. It was really inconsistent when throttling up and would kind of bog down. After replacing the injectors it was clear it was not getting the correct amount of fuel.

Just new fuel injectors installed and it’s a huge improvement. Night and day. I’d recommend motorman for reconditioning or buying reconditioned fuel injectors. Be careful to fully clean the injectors and package them well or the postal service will pull your package.
