Damn, some scammer with a nonsensical post brings a 13yo thread to life and we all jump in — huh — well I guess I’m game. I went about 600 one way miles and three mountain passes away to get my current boat, but that makes me a lightweight compared to some of you.

    Maybe one day I’ll...

Can’t help you with pole diameter, but… I bet 3” PVC would slide over it real well. Cut a length long enough to go from the floor to 2” short of where you want your cover to be to avoid pooling, then put an end cap on the PVC so no sharp edges stress your cover or tear it.

If the engine sounded louder than usual, check the exhaust hoses, particularly where they connect to the risers. I had a similar scary situation on my X25 a couple of years ago. I was running near WOT, an all of a sudden the engine got louder and a bunch of warnings went off (including temp). I pulled...

Melted, or aged, brittle and cracked? If you had I high enough temp to melt those guys, I think you’d have some fairly significant engine damage.

Phase 5 Trident is an amazing big boy board, so is the Ronix M50 (I just got the Carbon but haven’t put my feet on it yet). Neither of these boards are cheap tho—

If I put anyone under 210lbs on the Trident, they can’t get enough weight on the back to slow it down. It’s a super...

  • I picked up a Ronix Carbon Pro M50. Still haven’t ridden it yet, but I’m interested to see if it displaces the Phase 5 Trident as my favorite board.

  • I love the upgrade to the platform mounting, but I would have done it just slightly differently. I would have threaded the bolts into the aluminum blocks then used 3M 4200 to secure the aluminum blocks to the hull. The nuts and washers would then go on under the platform. This would make it easier to...

  • I’ve towed long distances with the cover on many times. I’d never consider not. Boat arrives clean and I can travel with gear in the boat w/out worrying about it blowing away. Like others, I drape a shipping blanket over the windshield under the cover.

The other thing I always do is...

  • I have one on my boat, and it rolls right up with the Bimini and fits under the stock cover. The only drawback is that when varying boards the Bimini needs to be out.

I’ve had great luck with concrete blocks made in 5 gallon buckets with a stainless unbolt in them. I use the orange Homer buckets from Home Depot so they’re easy to find if I need to dive on them to retrieve or reattach a failed line.

When I’ve made them in the past, I bolted a stainless...

  • This is 80% likely to be a ground or power issue. Start by making sure that all grounds are connected together. If that doesn’t fix it, verify that your positive power comes from the same circuit. If that doesn’t fix it, consider adding a power filter to the positive side of your cabin speaker amp....

  • I made the same winch replacement you’re talking about last spring. The new winch bolted right up. The Fulton winches have oblong mounting holes on the bottom, so they are adjustable and can fit various bolt patterns.

Once you remove your Fulton jack you’ll see that the mounting plate...

  • I’m on Sammamish — I rent a slip at the north end.

It’s hard to miss my boat, if you see us, come say “hi”!

Hopefully we see each other some time.

I paid Corey $895 for my cover. I’m local to him, so I took my boat to him, he made a pattern, then had my cover done in a month and a half or so and I picked it up from him. He is a great guy, and did a fantastic job. I’m pretty handy, but there’s no chance I’d personally take a swing at making...
