I have seen and been told to use the gallon zip lock around the oil filter when removing; saves a lot of spilled oil it seems. Have not looked into my boat yet to see how well a bag will work, but I am sure going to try it.

I always fill the boat on the trailer, and then top off once it's in the water. The readings are certainly different once you run it and fill the filter with oil. If I am patient, I can usually pull 4+ quarts out from the oil change hose with the filter change.

Anyone use a fake a lake to get the oil warmed up? If so, where would I likely find the water intake to set up it up and attach the hose?
