    MCX engine replacement

I need to relace the MCX engine.

The engine was fully rebuilt last year @ 1200h, but a broken shower hose fitting (and subsequent loss of water pressure in exhaust manifold cooling system, which lead to exhaust manifold failure and water intrusion into the cylinders) this year has ruined it for good.

Anyway, I have contaced Indmar hoping I can get a brand new engine from them, but apparently they do not sell replacement engines. Instead, they have pointed me in the direction of Michigan Motorz.

MM does not sell Indmar replacement engines, but they offered me a base GM marine 5.7 engine:

Did anyone use that engine as a MCX replacemet ?

I'm wondering, if the compression ratio, valves, heads and camshaft are 100% identical ?

I'm gonna reuse all engine accessories from the MCX - like ETXCAT exhaust manifolds, water pumps (all new), ECU, fueling system, etc.

I used Michigan Motorz on my old 94 ProStar with Indmar 350 with throttle body. Not the MCX so I cant comment on the specs for that. But I can say they stood behind their engines and I remember seeing other on here update their MCX with one of their engines. And to be recommended by Indmar is a big plus.

Give them a call and ask your questions. The owner is Roger, Clayton was my main technician and Loren was his boss.

Sorry for the luck on the hose, but wishing you better luck on the replacement.
If its not a competition ski boat, its always second best.

Same engine indmar uses. The vortec marine version has same heads, piston, crank, rods , oilpan, etc and the same marine cam. Indmar bought that longblock from GM and added their own intake, exhaust, and fuel/ignition system. Many have bought the exact same engine for their mastercraft when the original failed.

Thanks. Just go a reply from Indmar:

The Marine 5.7 Base engines from Michigan Motorz have the same specifications as the engines that we used so there shouldn't be any issues.

I bought a new GM Factory longblock from MM last year. Worked out fine.

God I love this Forum, just when you are ending a long crappy day, someone comes along and says something like this. I almost had beer come out of my nose, laughing so hard.

So how did your engine turn out? Also what was the procedure for starting the engine for the first time? How was the timing?
